Which Club?

Ahhhh.... I dont know wat to do. Funny timing with Ez posting about his club setup quieries...

Well im hitting my r7 right now since the 905S is in the shop getting that BiMatrix thrown into it, ill finally be getting it back tomorrow. The problem is though that i am hitting the r7 soooo well and its perfect because with the extra weight (2 10g and 2 12g weights), its so anti left its amazing. The extra weight just keeps the club lagging behind me, and just kinda puts a little block fade on it every time.

Err... I duno, we'll see when i get my 905 back tomorrow. I wish id never had 2 different gaming drivers!

Opinions?

Both same distance off tee? Take the most consistent (left to right) one..

Play whatever you feel most comfortable with. Now is the time to hit them and see which is more consistant. I have that R5TP 10.5* sitting around and it will most likely end up sold eventually. Shame since that shaft is so awesome. I'd hate to cut it down for a 3W... I have no idea what to do with that combo. Anyway the 510TP is the one that needs to be the gamer for me. I may not hit every fairway but it is controllable and consistant. I stepped on it a few times today and got it over 280 with some forward kick.

Get out and play 'em. One will rise above.

Before i got the 905 reshafted, it was more consistent, but a little shorter then the r7. I guess we'll see tomorrow. Im playing before i go out to get it (my club is between my house and the place where its gettin fixed, plus it wont be ready before my round), then ill hit the course on my way back home afterwards for some more practise. We will see which is superior i guess.

Ez, the difference for me is that with the weights ive gotten off of you, the r7 is super consistent left to right (that blockish shot i explained before) and is always low (unless i take a step back and stay behind it). Which will be really good for a few windy courses ill be playing and for some other courses that i need to take the left side out of play. Whereas the Titty has/always was a lot more workable imo (just because of all the weight i have in the r7).

Testing will commence tomorrow

Yea, i knew theres a lot heavier out there. Just because ive never played a driver this heavy. 983K with aldila NV 65, 905S with prolite, before i got the extra weights it was a standard weighted r7 with 75g shaft. I am in the market for getting heavier weights though still, but to add to this, ive ALWAYS been a low ball hitter with my driver. For some reason, im hitting everything higher right now, but my driver is still fairly low, which i dont mind at all personally.

Just see them, next to eachother. Also, don't make a decision yet. Play both for a few weeks. A lot of clubs are pretty good once you first start hitting them, or return after a break.

Now, it's the big picture that matters.

Well, had about the best day i possibly could with my r7. Everything was 260-270 straight up the middle/middle right. 14 for 14 on fairways hitting the driver 11 times (sadly shot 79, but were not here to talk about that).

Went to pickup the 905. Initial remark, nice. Felt whippier just holding it in the shop, but swinging at a ball it feels nice and sturdy. Stopped by the club on the way home and took out a couple balls to knock off the first tee (proshop/range already closed), it was pretty solid, went out there a good distance, i hit off the back tees, and it ended up to about where id hit my last drive off the middle tees last week. Ill be playing again tomorrow, i have no clue which to play during the round tomorrow... I guess itll either be a spur of the moment decision on the range, or if its close, just throw a tee up and let fate decide.

Which do you guys think i should play tomorrow?

Both. I personally like to take a driver to the range to get back used to it before playing it. I wish my swing was so good I could just switch any time I wanted but there is a little adjustment period of a few hundred swings for me.

Funny you should mention that Ez. I only got to hit about maybe 50-60 balls with my r7 before i used it for the first time (!!!!! in a tournament!!!).

Ive thought of using two drivers before, but i dont see it as an actual stroke saving club decision. Not worth what id be taking out (most likely either my 2i or 60*).

I've never had luck "fitting" myself to a driver. I have to find one that "fits me", first swing. I know it right away.

Piper,

Is that the "pink" BiMatrix that Bubba uses in his? (I'm hoping for a pic if it is)....

Sry WBL, its the black like Tiger uses. I really tried to get it in pink, i really did. But was unable to get an X flex for the price i got it at. I was really hoping to get a pink one!

Take both out to the range, and see what's what. I got my r7 steel fairway wood as part of that TaylorMade Summer Deal, and it arrived 2 days before my Men's City Championship.

Funny story, I took it out to the range, and it just went absolutely horribly. I was so disappointed, thought this club was the worst thing for me since...well...a club I hit really bad. Anyway, I hit 2 buckets, and barely got the hang of it. Went out the next day, just relaxed, 3/4 swing, BAM! It's my go to club now.

Yea, after today, this thing is stayin in the bag for awhile (the Titleist). You can read my comments about it in my review. But to say the least (although im sure the way im swinging right now i wouldnt have too much trouble with a walmart special) this thing is a canon and im just launching everything out there. Even getting that long hanging trajectory ive been working towards getting
