Lookin for advice on bending a wedge.

Here's the deal: Wilson Staff Tw7's only come in 56º and 60º left handed. I really like them and am considering swithcing them with my Tw5's. The only thing is I NEED a 52º wedge. In my mind I have 4 options.

A) buy the 56º and 60º and play my old Tw5 52º.
B) buy 2 56º's(or60's) and one 60º. Bend one of the 56's to 52º
C) Dont buy any Tw7's.
D) buy one 60º Tw5

I onyl have the 52 and 56 Tw5's. Either way I will be play wedges with the loft of 52 56 and 60º's.

I don't really wanna have 2 Tw7's and one Tw5..will look awkward..

I was wondering if bending a wedge 4º will screw it up and make it useless.

Can you think of any draw backs?

Thank for any input,

TGC

I read it, but I don't really know the answer. 4º seems like a lot to me, plus you'll be changing the lie pretty substantially I would think. Seems like it's a 1:1 ratio on loft:lie changes, but I'm not sure.

I'd choose option A if it was me.

Don't worry about what your bag looks like... I use a bunch of crap headcover's on mine so nobody will get any ideas about taking them.

I wouldn't try to bend a 56* down that much. If you already have a 52* keep it. BTW- 2fast has a Wilson harmonized 60* and I hit it a bunch. I loved it, wish I knew what bounce it had. I gave my dad a set of Staff Progressive combos last year too. They look almost identical to the combo's they have out now. I hit them a bit... very impressed by the Staff clubs, right up there with the best.

I'm stupid, would this add bounce or loose it?..I loath bounce.

Stronger loses bounce, weaker gains it. 56-10 bent to 55 becomes 09 and to 57 becomes 11.

You have to becareful adjusting loft because it will throw off the lie angle as well. 4* seems like a lot of adjustment for me, I never like to have anything bent more than 1 or 2 *'s

mmm, im a bit of a neat freak. my clubs HAVE to be in order. If there not I stop and fix them.

looks are very important to me. If I dont like the look I dont buy.

Having 2 gun metal wedges and one chrome will drive me insane.

maybe I'll just buy a 60º Tw7.

Thanks for crushing my hopes and dreams guys.

I got a 53/59 combo on the brain. Especially after hitting a 60* yesterday.

Same here, I read it, but had images that they would return the club in two piece and say it is 52*, just use a little super glue. Seems real extreme to me. I am not an expert at this, but most I have seen on the market indicate you can go +/- 2*.

another go option is get to a fitter and explain issue to him. The fitter may be able to get another approach wedge with similar feel for you after evaluating the Wilson's. Putting 4 degrees of bend would not affect you chips but I think would the bounce issue those 1/2 to full swings can be problematic. What is your average divot like. If you are thin and the fairway is generally hard you may be ok. The reverse of either will make those Wilson's feel foreign with very inconsistant distance control.

I've had a similar issue going from a 4 wedge system to 3 so I could add a hybrid to bag. I threw out the 60 and have concentrated on 3/4 wedges and traj. control for distance control. Overall I feel the 52 degree wedge has more utilitity in my bag than the 60. But thats me and my playing conditions. My 60 wedge can go back in when course conditions require.

hope this helps

so long and thanks for all the fish

I'm thinking about one after that. How many times did I hit that little flop shot right onto that downslope? Must have been 5 or 6 times. Then I set up on that little par 3 with the massive bunker and cut across the ball like crazy. Shot it out about 8feet high, 3feet forward and on the green. I hate to say it after just buying another MP-R but it might be time for another 60.
