My FTi 1st impression's

Well they say that 1st impression's last and in this case they are so right, This thing is the dogs danglies ! ! !

1st of all I'd like to thank DannyKos for wording me up about getting a lower loft than usal. I normally play 9.5-10.5 but purchased the 8.5 Tour on Danny's advice. I was a little worried that I wouldn't be able to get the ball airborne enough with 8.5 degrees but this flies on a HIGH hanging trajectory.

It arrived on Wednesday and I've played 72 holes with it, including a trip to St.Annes old links today. I'd sum it up by simply saying that this is the best golf club that I've ever bought bar none (and there have been lots). It looks good at address and is so easy to aim with the square sides it's become 'normal' looking to me already. I've found this club to be longer than my FT-3 Tour. I've hit them both side by side at the course and the FT-i does go further and straighter. You can't really play for a shape with it though, when I try to hit a draw it just goes straight and this is the draw model btw. I find the best way to use it is to take aim dead centre of the fairway and unload as hard as you like. 95% of the time I've hit the fairway, you may get a 15 yard draw or cut but you normally hit the fairway. The only fairways I've missed with it over the last 4 rounds have been when I have a left to right cross wind and my dodgie swing coupled with my mental weakness lead to a slice that even the FTi struggles to keep straight. (I normally hit a 2 iron with left to right winds). Anyway I will keep you updated with my findings as I play more with it. Any questions please ask and I'll try to answer them.

Is what you're talking of that horrendous looking square thing ?!

So, from your perspective the FTi is longer and straighter than FT3, but you can not shape the ball with the new? What is more important to you -- distance/accuracy/workability? Does the FT3 out score the FTi in total? Is it too early to tell?
Oh and why are your driver's in the WC?

As you can see it is the Square thing but it isn't horrendous. You NEED to demo this thing when you can, it is so straight that you will hit it further than your TM because you can swing harder, simple as that.

Distance and accuracy. The only reason that I tried to shape a driver was to take the left or right side out of play. With this (so Far) i can aim down the centre/over the corner and hit it there so there is no need to shape it really. If I really need to shape the ball I would use my 4 wood.

(WC has the best light for my crap camera phone to take pics in).

Well, if you like it.........................

I have never hit one, and doubt that I ever will, but IMHO, the term fugly has been taken to a whole new level.

Danny;- The Sumo2 is out today. I've had a look at one in Nervada Bob's. I've not hit it yet but had a waggle. To be fair at address the power bow being a lighter colour does distract the eye and you don't relise how square it is, good thing if a square head would put you off swinging it, but for me the square shape helps me aim the club a lot easier with the FT-i. Are they doing a Tour version of the Sumo2, hopefully with different shaft options so you don't have to have a yellow belly one.

WBL;- You will like this club, don't hit one or the Rapture will be in the classifieds in seconds.

Coach;- Bombs away indeed!

Non taken. I sum it up like this. The FT-i is like the bird you end up marrying because you just get on so well with her, you didn't really fancy the arse off her at 1st but you love spending time together. Oposed to a really nice looking Bimbo type who looks great on your arm, you show off to all your mates but you have nothing in common and you don't really get on together. Your with her for her looks and she's with you for your money, not the perfect match.
