Thread: UST V2 vs Accuflex Evolution.

  1. UST V2 vs Accuflex Evolution.

I’m done with my NV it just isn’t the best fit for my R7.I changed my swing last year and hit more of a draw and my ball flight lowered. I was at the simulator yesterday and I was hitting the ball ok but it just felt bad and my launch angle was a little low.

I’ve been looking and doing some research and initially was thinking about a 757 Speeder but it is an older shaft and still expensive. I thought I could find a new less expensive low torque mid kick mid launch shaft for half the money. I kind of have it narrowed down to a V2 or an Evolution. I know R35 loves the Evolution but have anyone else hit the evolution and even better hit both shafts and how did they work for you. My swing speed is about 110 with a 265-275 carry so I’m probably looking at a stiff in both shafts.

While I've already been written off, I'll chime in anyways.

The V2 is a very stout feeling shaft. Almost so much that I would recommend anyone that has a 110mph swing or less to go with a regular flex. It's damn near Grafalloy Blue status in terms of feel and spin. But, if you can load it up, it's an incredibly explosive shaft.

The Evo, however, is much, much smoother. And consistent, which I think is the key for the driver especially. It brings the exact same feel, the exact same conditions with damn near every swing. You REALLY have to come out of your rhythm to get this thing to flinch. It also plays stout, but with a 110, you'd probably be ok with the stiff.

If I was being honest here, which I am, I would say you are really splitting hairs in terms of performance with these two. However, I vote for the Evo (unbiased) because of it's predictability and confidence that it creates. Hands down.

Good luck with your choice. Both are winners.

  3. I have a friend who built a SMT 455 DP and a Evolution. He always was long. Now he's incredibly long and straight too. I watched him drive the green on a 345 yard par 4. It's a good shaft.

I'll throw out one more. The Aldila NVS 65 which is higher launch then the NV and much better. Mine kicks butt.

And you can also read about the Graman Limeys in this forum...

  4. I hated both the V2 and the Evolution. Both dead feelingless boards.

I prefer shafts with feel, LIMEY, YS-6+, NV, NVS.

The V2 is a pretty deadish shaft. But as Rock said, if you can load it, its a great shaft.

I have to agree with WBL, give the NVS a shot if you werent a fan of the NV. I played the NV in my 983K for just over a year, and it was fairly good, but i knew it wasnt the shaft for me. When Rock said he had an NVS for cheap, i threw a bit of money at him just for the hell of it (didnt actually think he'd bite for that little money) because the stock MAS2 shaft in my vsteel was shit to say the least.

Now my vsteel is a cannon, mid-high launch and is a very lively shaft, very easy to control. (i have played it in drivers also, it feels the same there too).

  7. I will defiantly be getting a new shaft for my TEE 3w. I hit it for the first time yesterday and serious worm burners the NV is just too low of a launch. I did hit it 274 on a good swing by far the furthest shot I have made on a simulator with a 3wood.

  8. I think the V2 would work good in the TM. Probably feel and play much softer than it does in a Hibore.

I'm assuming your talking about the 2.2 torque version. The 65 g V2 s is a noodle. I tried it and disliked it in a TM 580xd.

The dynacraft shaft fitting addendum is probably one of the few places to find objective info on shafts. Not surprisingly when I checked out the V2 65 specs it was rated as one of the softest S flexs. The Blue R was actually rated higher than most other s flexs. The Evo and V2 75 are close in their ratings.

Probably either shaft would work great. Flip a coin and make your choice

A couple of similar mid flight - low torque shafts to consider are the Harmon CB 65 and 70 shafts and the much maligned Blue S. All can be had for dirt cheap right now.

No worries man, it happens alot.

Here's a couple random pics. They don't do it justice, as the colour is great.

I will also give a nod to the NVS. It's not quite an Evo, but not a Graf Blue and not near as soft as the NV. Pretty much the best of all worlds.

I have an Evo in my TEE 3 wood, and it's a jackhammer. Easily the most solid shaft I've ever played in a fairway. I have one on the way for my 5 wood as I type this.

What happened to the Limey kick? Where does that fit into your bag?

It's gone. Way too soft for me. I gave it two times at the range and two in play. Way too soft, unfortunately.

It's a good shaft, it just doesn't fit my swing, nor bring the same feel that I get from the Evo.

Too bad, because they are sweet looking shafts.

I may try a 780 yet, but it's pretty far off the radar with how well I'm hitting the Evo.

  14. Sounds like you have found a winner for your swing style. At least you can save some money for a while on your driver and fairway shafts.
