Thumbs up Pine Hill (located in NJ)

By far my favorite golf course that I've ever played. Cost is around $100 per round with a cart, currently semi-private...but play is open to public at almost any time.

18-hole, par 70 course
6,969 yards from championship tees (plays longer though with elevation changes and dog-legs)
74.2/144 Course & Slope Rating from championship tees

Key features:
  • It's a unique course as you are isolated from the rest of the course for each hole you play. If you are on lets say the 5th hole, because of the trees and layout...the 5th hole is the only hole you will be able to see.
  • Greens have a lot of hidden breaks in them, remember everything breaks towards Philly
  • Excellent conditions, flush fairways, deep rough, nicely positioned bunkers
  • Pace of play has been right on each time I've played it
  • Challenging, if you dare play the back tees, you better have your gamer Driver with you. If you play from tees too far, you'll have to carry fairway bunkers that you just can't clear, making some par 4's play like par 5's.
  • Built on an old ski mountain, the elevation changes are evident in almost every hole, down hill tee shots, uphill greens, sloped fairways.
Few things to know before you go there:
  1. Take a cart. I don't care if you're one of those 'I walk only' people, this is the type of course you need a cart. Some of the gaps between holes are very long through the woods, you'll take forever to play 18 without a cart because of this.
  2. Range balls in my experience have been complimentary, so get there a little early because they have excellent practice facility.
  3. Buy a yardage book at club house before play. You will encounter blind shots and distances to fairway bunkers you'll need to know to play well if it's your first time.
  4. Putts generally break towards Philly if you can't see a break (especially on hole 9 and 18).
  5. Bring money for dinner/lunch if you're interested, food is a little pricey but excellent so if you have some to spare bring a little bit extra for meal afterwards.
Definitely recommend this to all golfers (if you are a high handicapper don't expect a good score). Good luck and have fun if you decide to play it.

I live in Voorhees and have played there once with my dad last summer for my 13th birthday. I have to agree with everything you said. The only upscale public course i can compare it to is either Scotland Run or Twisted Dune Golf Links. Now that I am into golf we are considering joining there. Very nice Course!!! A+
