Baywood Greens, Long Neck, DE - Shot Talk

Eventhough it's really the "off-season" This course was in great shape. I didn't read the fine print as they had just areated the greens and fairways. It was still in awesome condition.

I used the 3 wood off of most of the tee boxes as the fairways were pretty tight and I was hitting it great all day. The course wasn't really as tough as it was beautiful. I could have easily had one of the best rounds of my life if I didn't blow up the card with a few 8's from lack of concentration.

The course had water hazards and a ton of bunkers. If I played driver more I may have been in more trouble.

The signature holes were really that, they were awesome.

The two par three's are both forced carry over water. The first has a huge bunker off the right of the green and a smaller bunker to the left and short of the green.

The second par 3 is over water with a large bunker guarding the green short. It is a larger green so it's not that difficult but a very nice hole.

Now for my two favorites.

The island fairway hole number 14. This hole is a great design. I played a hole like this in Myrtle which was a lot tougher than this one. This hole is about 170 to the front of the island and 245 to the back. It's definitely reachable and you can get there but it's not too wide. I made bogey on this hole with a soft 3 wood and 8-iron in.

Number 18 was just awesome. Forced carry over water to a narrow fairway. Water runs the entire right side of the hole and around to behind the green. I hit 3 wood and PW into the green and made bogey. The green is small and guarded by bunkers which look awesome just like the beach. The left side is pretty open but if you go right you're in a lot of trouble.

Hopefully people in the area can get a chance to play this course. If you make it to Ocean City, MD or lower Delaware this is a must play. During the summer it's $120 but they do have twilight rates that start at 2pm. They don't advertise this so you'd have to call.

Oh yeah the carts all have a really nice gps system and the practice range was very nice and well taken care of. The snack shop and cart girls are also top notch.

Thanks. I actually got two free rounds because the internet booking system charges you too much.

Im going back early summer and play when all the foliage has grown in and the greens and fairways are actually green. Ill have more pictures then. I also want to get some better shots of the Island fairway hole. The sun was right into the camera on that hole.

Great looking course, I'm going to need to make a trip down there this summer and try that out. Maybe make it a weekend trip, as I have also never played Bulle Rock. Always thought of doing Bulle Rock but seemed like a long trip just to play there, being able to do both will make it worth the while.

If you want to play Bulle Rock and don't have any to go with Im in. I have a cousin who works there and we could get a really good rate, if not free.

I'll let you know. Although it would be my wife and I. She wouldn't let me back in the house if I went without her.

It will also likely be more towards the fall. Like you said earlier, something about playing courses like that out here, that you really need to do it in the fall to fully appreciate the landscape on a course like that.

That's no problem with the wife. I'll bring my wifey if she gets any better. If not maybe I'll bring my dad.

Anytime is good, I just called him actually and he said if we give him a couple weeks he'll take care of us.
