June Golf in Las Vegas

I'm finally getting down to Vegas when I'll have enough time to get in a round of golf. Any locals or area experts have some thoughts on a course I just shouldn't miss? Or that fall within the following:

*I won't pay $500 to golf at Wynn. Beyond that - economy is nice but I am willing to throw out a few dollars for my round.
*I want a fun experience and don't need the most difficult course in the state.
*Cab-distance from the MGM would be better as I don't know that I'll rent a car.

Thank you fellow addicts!

I've only played Silver Creek in Vegas, but I enjoyed it. I'm not going to say it was an outstanding course, but it was affordable and it was interesting enough that I was never bored playing. Check it out - it might fit what you are after.

As far as bang for the buck, I would have to search long and hard to find courses as nice as Paiute. Actually, I may have to search long and hard just to find one in Vegas I like as well. When I go to Vegas, and for the price it will likely be the only 3 I will play. I believe the Wolf is supposed to be the best, we played Snow Mountain.

Paiute - Golf Club Resort Las Vegas Nevada Pete Dye Design Golf Courses

It has 3 Peter Dye courses, and at around $100 (at the time), and depending on the time and season it is probably a third of the price of some of the nicer courses in Vegas. It is actually one of the top 3 places I have ever played. It is about 45 minutes off the strip, so if you don't have a rental car it may be out of the question. It is also quite a bit cooler and windier than the strip because of lack of surrounding concrete. So you may want to take a windshirt or dress for it to be about 10-20 degrees cooler.

You may also do a search on here for other options, and I believe Eracer and some others played at Paiute as well.

Paiute is a great course. My favorite in Vegas. Pretty tough, but worth it. It would be an expensive cab ride.

Las Vegas National is a nice enough course, and it's downtown.

Arroyo Club at Red Rock is 20 miles from the strip. Nice Arnold Palmer course.

Angel Park - two Palmer courses - about 15 miles. Pretty easy, but I enjoyed it.

There are quite a few courses I haven't played yet (but I will) that I've heard are pretty awesome:

Cascata
Rio Secco
Royal Links
Mesquite
Reflection Bay

Thank you for the ideas. I'd rather get a car and get to the right course. I'll just have to save the 19th hole for when I get back to the hotel.
