Kissimmee GC, Kissimmee, FL

I'll be in the area next week mostly checking out the parks but might take a break for a round or two so I'm curious if anyone has played this course. The photos are ok, the rates are even better ... tempting.

Any other courses to consider nearby (cabbing distance)?

Thanks.

I don't know that course, but the town of Kissimmee is one of the nastiest places in Florida. It practically defines the horror of out of control strip-mall development. Sorry I can't help you with courses that are within cabfare distance. I wish you luck.

Kissimmee Golf Club is one of my cheap go to places when everything else is over priced. If you love airplanes, you will love Kissimmee GC. Both nines wrap around the pair of runways for Kissimmee Gateway airport. Mostly private and biz jet traffic with a few warbirds on occasion as a P51 "Crazy Horse" is base there part of the year and there is a T6 that offers rides most of the year. 1st hole is a Par 5 with a runway in play if you really slice it. For the price, you can not beat the conditions. Even when everything is brown down here, the greens at KGC stay in good, green shape. No houses on the course, but a couple of severe doglegs on the front nine due to limited space and the runways.

The only drawback to KGC is that it can slow down a bit depending on the time of day and time of year. It is pretty well rangered so they try to keep play moving, but occasionally you will get stuck behind a slow group with no relief.

Worth the money paid. Its not to be confused with Disney or any of the other resort courses, but I have always had an enjoyable round there.

Another course I would consider that is close to Disney and not outragiously expensive is Hunters Creek. It is long (but with plenty of tee box options) and in good condition under the most recent ownership.

Thanks for all the info. The break for golf just didn't happen. All the people in the group - my friend and his buddies - were all about the parks and I didn't feel like bailing on them.

I just know that I'm not coming back to the parks for the next 10 years. Next visit to Florida will be golfing, golfing, and more golfing. Now curious more than ever to check KGC ... oh well, next time.

Eracer is dead-on about the out of control strip-malls - the place is just a massive mixed bag of hotels and strip-malls.

The location is perfect if you go to the parks everyday - covered both Universal parks, all of Disney regular parks, and one Disney water park, all in four days. Great trip even though there was no golf; not to be confused with a vacation - all that park hopping is no joke.

You're not kidding about it being work! Did you like battling the soccer moms and their all-terrain, turbocharged four-seat baby strollers?

Too bad about the "no golf." What park experience did you like the best? Any stand-out moments?
