Santa Teresa course review

I'm playing Santa Teresa tomorrow with my uncle and grandfather. It's located in San Jose, CA. Beautiful course for a cheap price! I will give a small report on how the course is playing.

I play about a third of my rounds there so I'm curious to hear what you have to say about it.

How far is this from the SJC airport? I'm supposed to pick my GF up there in a couple of weeks and was thinking about heading up early and trying to fit a quick 9 in. Any other suggestions in the area would be appreciated as well.

Not all that close actually but SJ Muni and Santa Clara are not that far at all. I may be able to get out there with you depending on what day/time you are looking to play.

It's going to be the 3rd. I think she flies in at 4.30 or so. If we do get together you can tell everyone what a puss I am. I'm gonna be driving her car as I get 35MPG in it. It is quite possibly the manliest car you have ever seen.

Sorry for the wait guys, it's about 304 degrees here in northern California and I'm trying to cool off.

My uncle picked me up and we got to the course around 9:30. First thing I do is run to the restrooms since I drank three cups of coffee and a bran muffin (ugh). Lucky for me they were doing some sort of construction to them so I had the joy of using porty potties next to the putting green. After that gut wrenching experience, I meet up with my uncle at the driving range. It's a nice range with a ton of mats for people to use. I did not get a chance to check how much range balls were (sorry) because I was running behind schedule. I hit about 10 warm up shots then got ready for the course. The practice green was in AWESOME shape! The greens were running decently fast and the course looked to be in great shape. You will deffinately shoot a better front nine than on the back. The front nine has a couple of long par 4's that the long hitters wont have trouble reaching. The first hole is a dogleg left, about 410 yards from the tips. A great opening hole. I had a really though time reading the greens. They are kept in awesome shape for how hot it has been here in the bay area the past month. The 90* rule was in effect because the course was being watered constantly. You couldn't go by one hole without seeing some sort of sprinkler. I managed to shoot a 40 on the front nine which is pretty good for me. The front is a par 35. The back nine is a lot tougher than the front nine, like I stated earlier. The 10th hole looks easy, but if you go right, you're behind trees trying to hit a very though green and if you go left you will have a tough time keeping it on the green. I managed to hit a nice 3 wood and had about 150 left to the hole. The 10th hole green is a steep, fast sloping green from back to front. Unlucky for me I hit it over the green and had a really difficult chip. I 3 putted for a double. The biggest thing I can warn you about playing here is that if you walk the course, you will get very tired on the back 9 and sluggish. Lots of hills that you have to walk up and down constantly. The 11th hole is no break after the 10th. It's a complete dogleg that you have to hit a nice drive, then uphill over a creek to a green that is probably a 80 foot elevation to the green. The holes don't get easy after that too. Santa Teresa is known for having a very difficult back nine. I shot a 51 on the back to shoot a 91, which is about average for me. My goal was to break 90 which didn't happen, but I highly reccomend this course. PM me if you have any further questions.

Robert

Do the flowers in the flower pot match the paint job?

You two obviously do not have children.
