Thread: Winter Popular Golf destinations

  1. Winter Popular Golf destinations

Looking for a winter golf destination in the states that is an excellent value. Open to suggestions and would prefer the Western US if possible.

I imagine that you will likely get the best deal on a golf package at Myrtle Beach, however coming from the Northwest I would imagine you may currently pay more for the airline ticket than possibly the rest of the package.

Last I went we spent about $300 per person for 3 nights in a 2 bedroom suite with full kitchen with a balcony and ocean view and 4 rounds of golf. Although for my wife and I a 2 bedroom suite was kinda overkill but we didn't know that was the room until we got there as it just said "Suite". So we ended up getting 4 of them for 4 couples. Probably could have saved with just two, although personally for that price I would probably still go with our own suite.

  3. Your best bets will be Florida (multiple locations on both the east and gulf coasts), Phoenix/Scottsdale, Arizona (a huge selection of courses) and Myrtle Beach, SC (huge amount of courses as well as easy access to North Carolina's Pinehurst area, Charleston's Kiawah Island and Hilton Head.

  4. South Texas.

I know you said the west coast, but you also said "best value". You will be hard-pressed to find much better values than in the Rio Grande Valley (RGV). Lots of good courses, cheap, and only a short drive apart.

You won't find a lot of "golf packages" to the area, but if you want inexpensive golf in nice weather, the RGV is hard to beat

  6. A group of friends and I visit Las Vegas each and every winter. It's a nice escape from the cold Wisconsin Winters. Vegas is not typically associated with deals, but we use a company called Sterling Golf Services and they do a great job for us. We typically take advantage of many of their early twilight times they offer at area courses and that is a great way to play quality courses for $100 or less. They now do packages with the Golden Nugget hotel downtown and last year set us up with some sweet hotel rates as well. If anyone is interested please pm me for their number. Their staff is great to work with.

  10. Arizona is too damn expensive for golf in the winter. Trust me on this one. My brother just stayed at and played two rounds at Bandon Dunes. $75 a round. That is one smokin' deal. Weather held up. 60 degrees and didn't rain.

I dread my 50th b-day when I have to book my golf vacation. Maybe the economy will drop the prices of some courses. I refuse to pay $400 a round.
