Played a couple rounds here early this week. The wife and I took a trip to Branson. First I want to say that it's a very beautiful course. Very well maintained. Back 9 had only been open a couple of weeks so it was still growing in as far as the tee boxes and fairways are concerned. Greens were all just perfect... rolled very true and very damn fast. Lots and lots of elevation changes. Several tee shots from 100+ foot above the fairway, with the 18th being the exact opposite, about the same UP hill and played LONG. Well bunkered, THICK rough, 3" long in spots. Basically no shot for me if I'm in the rough because I honestly don't know how to deal with it.
The one thing that I really didn't like about it was that you didn't really get rewarded much for finding the fairway. I mean you obvisouly don't have to deal with the thick rough... but there wasn't a flat spot anywhere in any fairway. No matter where you place it the ball is always above or below your feet... anywhere from 3 to 6+ inches. I just think they went overboard with the undulation in the fairways.
The clubhouse was nice... was cool to see all the Payne Stewart memorabilia.
As for scores.. I played REALLY well for me and for the course. First day I shot 89 from the greens. Second day I shot 87 from the tips. Lots and lots of blind shots(both tee and approach) so that was definitely helpful on the second day. First day I hit a lot of good shots that just dind't turn out because I wasn't 100% sure on what was ahead. Oh and it was cart path only... so taking a quick look wasn't really an option most of the time.
