Re: Clearwater, Florida

This website <link removed> has a list of the best golf courses you can play, put together and rated by the golfers. There's probably only 15 or so courses on there for Tampa, but it's only the best ones. It works anywhere you're traveling, just search for city/state, etc.

I wish I could give you better news, but in all honesty the courses down here are quite lame. Florida gets by on weather, b/c the merit of the courses is marginal. I live in Tampa and play at Avila, but you don't want to pay to play there it's not worth it as a guest.

If you can break free go to World Woods, insanely cheap this time of year at $34 and both tracks are great for Florida. In Clearwater you can hit Innisbrook, but it's a 5+ hour death march. They don't do any marshalling and they pack them in as fast as people will pay.

I would go to the St. Pete Muni Mangrove Bay. You can play in a decent amount of time in the a.m. and it's less than $30. Other than that it's really very, very average.
