Hook is disappearing!!!
It was a nice day today, +3ºC so I decided to go out and hit some balls to see if I'm making any progress with my swing.
The first time I went out I took the camera to shoot some video. Only took the driver and hit 10 balls. obviously rusty as ol' hell but I was able to get some good contact on a few. The thing is I hit most of them with this big high push + cut thing that went no were.
Went in the house and put the vids on the comp and took a look at them. Noticed a few things and headed back out. This time I took the 6 iron with all that masking tape on the grip (
). Hit a few drivers with the same results as earlier. Switched to the 6 iron for 3 shots and after 3 complete blades my fingers were hurtin. Went inside and took that damn tape off. Most of it anyway, some of it was a little stubborn and took a butter knife and warm water to come off. There’s still a bunch of glue on the grip but that's beside the point.
Went back out oneeee more time with the driver and 6 iron. Driver was still the same old ugly high push slice thing with just a few nice drives that I want to see in April. Then I hit one and it sounded like it might have made contact with a house that is being built behind mine. So I decided to put the driver away and I broke a tee in half so It was small enough to stick into the frozen ground.
I then proceeded to hit the best iron shots I have hit in probably a year. I aimed at this big spruce tree and I hit 4 balls in a row directly over that tree with a nice high dead straight ball flight. Damn, that felt good.
I didn’t hook one of them which I found amazing. I hit at least 20 6 irons and I was extremely pleased with the results. I felt like I was really getting my weight to my back leg on the back swing and I was really able to fire through the shot on the downswing.
Weather permitting I will hit some more balls tomorrow and try to get that driver straightened out.
But god dam those 6 irons were beautiful. I’ve been waiting to see that for a long time.
This is a much longer post than I originally planned.
