Swing coming around

I finally feel like my swing is starting to come around. I was hitting the ball well on Monday morning and went to the range in the afternoon. I'm getting inside and just hitting smooth, soft, straight shots with the irons.

This evening I went out for 9 holes. Had some short game F-up's on the 1st 2 holes. They have grown the rough thick and really deep, my standard chip shots will no longer work. Anyway, I doubled the 1st holes but got back on track and managed to go 43 on the par 37 back nine. I hit the green on 12, 195 par 3 with a 6iron and then on 14 I came about close as ever to holing an ace. 158 I landed an 8 iron less than a foot from the stick and was less than 2 ft. right of it, exactly pin high... yes, I made that one.

On 17, a tough 412 all uphill I hit about the straightest drive of my life up the left side. Came at it with a little 3/4 fade from 150 with my 7iron and stuck it to 10ft., slid it by downhill just over the right edge.

I am still in awe of how it feels like I'm swinging so much slower, but the ball is going further.

But dont you absolutely love that feeling of a slow smooth swing outdriving past where you think you'll end up?

Nice to hear the swing in coming around Ez.

I feel the same way. I just need to engrain this in my head and realize that all it takes is a nice easy swing.

One of my swing thoughts these days has been "swing through". I try to swing as if the ball isn't even there because I used to try and "swing at the ball" and this caused so many problems for me.

Thanks guys. It's mostly just the irons, driver is still a bit unpredictable. I've started hitting a tiny hook with it now, odd. Everything was left with it today. 1 actually helped as it was a double crossed fade off 2 trees left at the end of a dogleg left. Instead of fading it back off to 100 in I blew it right through to less than 40yds. in.

I've bascially just taken an extra club and make a 3/4 feeling swing. With the short irons I believe I may have isolated the point where I get outside, reverse pivot, past parallel, OTT, ect, ect.... I feel like I've found that spot to stop, pause and pull down through.

I have an odd little swing thought I came up with. Simply that the shaft is made of lead, like it's very, very heavy. Seems to be helping me to get those twitchy little tendons and muscles quited down and using the shoulders and hips a lot better. That and "inside, inside, inside" Stay inside the right foot, drop the club inside and strike the inside half of the ball.

If you have nothing altering the flight (weights, tape, etc.) Stand closer to the ball. My friend who I am trying to get back into golf before the next HS golf season clearly pointed out that I was standing to far away with the driver. There went the case of the yips. Perfect 250-270 drives down the middle.

a "dragging" takeaway can help with this aswell.. as though your hands start the backswing but the club for a fraction stays put at address. Removes tension in the swing and gives that heavy loose feeling

With the club coming on the inside, i've found that i think less about the club, and more about what my hips are doing on the downswing.. if i lead with my hips, the club just naturally falls in the slot as it pretty much cant go anywhere else..
