I won...

But that's about all I can say about this morning's round.

Played with my boss at Cranston CC. It's a 125/6400 and change track. It's got some easier holes and few tough ones, course management can produce a decent score.

I started out in the right rough off the 1st tee on a mid length par 5 and was there a lot. Had a lot of trouble getting a decent tee shot in play but I scored on the shorter par 4's and par 3's to make up for it. With a few penalty strokes for lateral and a water hazard I shot a 96, which was enough to edge out a victory, lol. That rough was thick as heck and wet at 6:30 this morning. I realized after a few holes that a normal shot would not work out of that crap.

The highlight of both of our rounds had to be the Sawgrass replica island par 3. It plays about 115 from the whites. On the prior holes the 2 guys we'd been paired with were playing very well and my boss had mentioned being a little "intimidated" by such good play. Well, we each stuck our shots inside 7ft. and they went in the drink off the tee and from the drop area for a pair of 8's. Hate to take pleasure in someone else's misery but I think we both felt a whole lot better about our games after that hole.

We did the same thing last month when we played there. I told him "I think we own this hole". lol.

I've rationalized my scores by telling myself it's still early in the summer and lot's of good rounds coming up. Still nice to hit some good shots once in awhile. How's your putting? My putting is what is screwing up my game (scores). Got a different putter and can keep it on my chosen line better but I'm screwing up picking the line.

My putting was decent today. No 3 putts and a few 1's. My biggest problem was getting into the rough and trying to hit out of it with a "normal" shot. Wasn't happening. I should have just chopped it out 20yds. with a SW on a few of the lies I had.

I had my chance to break 90 but an overcooked fade into the drink on 17 had me 3 off the tee. Then after gettting the 2nd drive out there I decided I needed to hit 13* 3W off the deck and try to reach the 545yd. hole in 2. I didn't clear the stream in front of the green. So that hole put a few strokes on the card.

Last week in league I had a great round going (for me) and then hit into the water on 18 with the driver (par 5). Took a stroke out and proceeded to put my 3-wood on the green! I'm on the green in 3 with a ball in the water. Of course I then three putt the damn thing.

You think that is bad WBL? At regionals my second to last year, I was -1 after 12. I hit the front of the green, it spun too much, and drew back into the water. I did alright though, I couldn't help but laugh at that.

Anywho, glad to hear you are doing well Ez, everyone here knows what you are capable out on the course I think.

Thanks Jeff. I've not been letting my scores bother me too much. I'm still sort of in between 2 different swings and it's a work in progress. I went from an 8 on a par 5 to nearly holing an 8iron with a perfect swing on the next hole the other day. That's my game for now. Little by little the "par string" is getting better. I rack up 6 to 9 per round in a stretch. My true cap after the past few months would get me run off the course in match if I ever got even lukewarm.

I'm just trying to take the things I've worked on and implement them on the course.
