well practice makes a little better (not perfect) and a putter that you feel comfortable with doesn't hurt. I have a buddy who is just starting and his putting was horrible and the next time I played with him he had a 2 ball blade and was putting awesome, a complete turnaround.

Practice some distance drills for lag putting. I learned a drill where you putt to the fringe from about 30 feet away. Try to get it as close to the fringe without touching it. Next putt try to get as close to the first ball without going past it. Keep doing this until you putt a ball past the previous one and then start over. See how many you can do in a row.

Another thing to try for practicing distance is putting while looking at your target instead of the ball. This well help get a good feel for the distance.

Hit your approach shots closer to the hole.

Hey, it worked for Ben Hogan.

Well, don't forget on lag putting you ideally want to have the ball end up below the hole, and with the smallest amount of break possible.
