In order for me to keep my right cheek "touching the wall" and connect my left cheek, I have to really swing my left knee out towards the target and actually a little left of target. Is this correct, or should my left leg be more quiet? I'm 6'3" and fairly lanky so I have a considerable amount of lower body movement anyway, something I constantly struggle to control.

But you are right, I come OTT because it is somehow difficult for me to keep that right cheek in place while connecting the left.

I need to work on this a little more sans club to get the feel before I go whack balls.

Also, I think I may be over-doing the right cheek move a little. The right cheek does it's thing naturally on the back swing if I make a good shoulder turn. So maybe I should just concentrate on wiping backwards with the left cheek, which might be quiet down some of my excessive lower body movement while doing this drill.

I've been watching this thread for a while and it could not have come at a better time. My swing has been in the toilet now for about six weeks but it is finally starting to show some life and this little drill has been the key.

One of the biggest problems I have in my swing is that my lower body has a tendency to get completely disconnected from my upper half. Besides getting disconnected ealry in the take away, my hips are also quite fast and so they can get well out in front of my upper body on the downswing, which requires me to cast the club head if I'm going to have any chance of hitting the ball when my hips are at the impact position.

I get the weight shift and the "wiping", no problem (even when things are "off"). For me this drill helps keep my two halves connected in two ways: 1) getting the front cheeck off the wall helps to keep a one-piece take away and 2) the best part of this drill for me, the "connect" in the middle that acts as a little reminder to take a split second to let the arms/club set into the slot before firing the hips through impact.

Oddly enough this drill is essentially the "chair" drill that has been part of the lessons I've been taking, however, this version is a much better visualization for me.

Thanks for the post. I may try that tomorrow...assuming, of course, that the guy coming to replace my shower doors gets finished early.
