extending through the hitting zone?

I was playing with the professional at the course today because well it was raining and me and him and like a handful of other guys were at the course. I was lucky enough to tag along with him and I pretty much kept my own. He mentioned to me that my swing looks very good but that there is a significant loss of power on the downswing. He briefly told me that I do not extend through the hitting zone with the driver and thats why I only carry the ball 230-240 sometimes.

So.....

How do I fix this? I know in the back of my head that is probably public enemy #1 when it comes to the driver. Any one got any drills?

Thanks,

Omar

I've been using the towel, headcover, glove under the left armpit to stay connected. I have also been using a prop as a target line like the bucket in that "antislice" thread. I feel this gets me down my target line pretty well. I got inside/inside on a few and felt the results of a good, lower body swing with a lot of lag. Hit the longest range shots I've ever had and dead down the pipe.

Also, if your game is going well, don't put it past the pro to give you just enough advice to see it is sound, but not enough to entirely help, thus making you go to him for lessons.

Oh I know that is what he was trying to do some what. I was not hoping for a playing lesson nor did I want to bother him with one. I just know that he is right because I can definetly tell the difference when I have extended my arms
through impact and when I havent. The results are just bipolar.

if your arms are not extending, then it could probably be a collapsing arm (left arm) through impact. so you either pull or or slice.

this also means that you're swinging partially w/ your arm, not w/ your body, so try this drill.

get a peice of a rope in a length of your driver, tie knots on both ends. address the imaginary ball and swing. if you are using your arm/not extending, the rope will not straighten out. but if you use your torso and swing, your arms and the rope will naturally follow and straighten out at the point of impact. i heard some pros can actually hit a ball w/ a rope to about 100yds.

hope this helpls.

you can try w/ a towel. gives you the same effect, just need to see the towel and your arm straight through the impact zone. rope doesn't cost that much either.
