Head Movement Help - video included

Alrite guys. Ever since I started golf I've had this problem. I have a crazy amount of head movement in my swing. It completely messes up my consistency. I can have my timing down, and go out and shoot 76 one day, and then have it slightly off and shoot 84 the next. It's very frustrating.
Here's a vid of me hitting a 6i with a draw on the range yesterday:

Putfile - 6 iron driving range

FYI my timing was good yesterday, and I had a great range session.

So does anybody have any help on how I can stop this head movement and sway in my back swing? I've tried to just not move it at all, but i get no power, and only a half swing. I am not very flexible in the shoulders and back, or the arms (just not flexible on the whole) so I subconsciously do this as I feel I need to for power.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Rotating the head doesn't hurt, it's just keeping the "axis" in the same place until contact. You aren't far off. And I don't notice any loss of distance by keeping it still (meaning keeping from moving forward and back or side to side). (Swing looks pretty decent btw).

Break out a Newport and keep the cigarette pointed at the ball. Just kidding!!!!

Twofast actually smokes as well and I swear I can't see how he doesn't burn a hole in his left shirt shoulder.

Seriously though, this might sound stupid but could be worth a try. I was playing once and hit a perfect driver on #1. I then realized I'd left my putter in my truck. I ran back and as I lept over a little stream my sunglasses fell off my hat. So there it is. Put a pair of suglasses on your hat. If they fall off, you are moving too much.

as long as you don't lift your head, it should be fine. it seems like by rotating your head so much, you lose little bit of spine angle. not too much though.

just keep a smooth tempo... rest of the down swing and follow though looks good.

To me it actually looked like you move your whole body ahead and smother the ball, causing it to go left.

Just get a buddy to hold a club to your head while you hit the ball, my coach always does this with me as I have a bit of a problem with just staying still

i may be wrong by this, the video was the best quality:S

Your lower body is too active....moving too much. You do make a nice start to your downswing with a good forward movement of the hips but on the way back you've got too much movement below the waist.

Focus on trying to keep your belt buckle facing forward as you bring the club to the top by rotating AROUND your waist. This is the Quiet Lower Body concept so widely described.

Then start down as you are now...it should help. Do you sometimes have fat shots??

yup my mis-hit is a big fatty. what you have said about quiet lower body is something ive always struggled with. my swing ha always had too much excess moving parts. here's another vid where i think my lower body is kept much quieter which makes the swing look more solid and consistent: Putfile - long drive 92 26. in this video i do overswing a little on the follow through though (body facing past target - to the left of it)

looking at your swing DTL you can see an old problem of yours which is an early disconnection of your initial set up parameters, this is the triangle established at address is quickly broken by a snatch away from the ball with excessive rotation of the wrists and forearms, which initially causes you to get a wee bit flat and inside, this then leads you to lifting the arms to establish a top of the backswing position, the way you finish the backswing is to combine an elongated arm swing with an excessive upper body rotation this causes disconnection and problems with timing, this will also be indicative of a slight weight transfer problem as an early rotation and turn usually do.

On the way down to counter your problems you have to exactly correct your over rotation of your wrists and forearms the same on the way down to square up, this is where you will get your inconsistencies.

I would reccomend that you try a one peice takeaway to get more connected and so your arms dont over rotate try to keep the clubface looking at the ball or as i told you a while back use the butt of the club in the belly button drill which helps early swing connection.

I agree, as I have made the same comment in his other new swing vid thread.

Good call.

alrite thanks a lot. i have been using the butt end in the belly button drill, and its helped a bit. its just so damn hard to change muscle memory.
