Best Range Session Ever!!

I can't wait to go play again now... and I have tomorrow off.

I was out last night and caught up with good 'ol Nappy. He was hitting just drivers and an old PW from 100 with a half dozen balls. I joined up with him and he told me the same dang thing as he did last year. I'm too close to the ball and not extending. Low and behold I adress it off the toe and hit it to 120 out on 412 with a 3yd. draw.

So I took the Superquad and set it back to nuetral weighting. I also put a V55 grip on it with the "grip rite" alingment set up dead on. Actually feels weird, like weak but it sure stops my right arm from taking over. I also put 4 layers of tape under my left hand position and 1 under the right.

Now the results. I did not lose 1 ball out of 2 buckets right and maybe 5 out of over 100 a bit left when I got handsy on a draw setup. I swear I have never hit it so straight, so high, so many. I was hitting diagonally across the range and hitting slight draws a mile. I set up straight at the 250 and sent a half dozen over into the woods never to be found again.

Then I used this same swing, away from the ball, inside-inside around my body but opened up to the taget. Holy smokes. 275yd. fades 3-5yds.. Like 20 in a row dead on my target and just out there.

I need to just write down what I did today or something. I also brought my 5 and 9irons. Those were dead on as well. Inside-inside and the 9's flying the 150 and the 5's flying over, carrying in the air, the 200 marker. Nuts.

Man I love to read this because your short game must really be shit not to beat 77! I say that with love Ez because man you got your driver on the money your definetly about 2 clubs on me on distance and I just wonder how the hell you do it man. I am here drastically trying to find a way to get my 9 iron to about 145 (maxed it at 135) and I just end up over swinging.

Sure, don't know if I can help though. BTW, my short game is not crap. Putting is not exactly lights out but it's average. My wedge game? I've not met anyone but Nsherman who could equal my play around the green. The driver is what's been killing me, hence my excitement. I shot 39 last week on a tough 9. My double came after I hit a hook into a pond. If I can drive like this for 18holes I should easily break 80.

My power comes from getting into the inside slot. I use a "stagger step" drill which I've talked about a million times on here. Left foot in front of the right, like a super-closed stance and swing around my body.

This one will baffle you. Yesterday I lost a drive bad right and it hit a tree. I had to clear a fairway bunker lip quick to pull the shot off. The guy I was with had a rangefinder. 208 to the stick, 189 to the fringe. I put it on with a 7iron out of a closed stance and made par. He was floored and called me Jason Zubach the rest of the round.

My shafts are the NS 1050's so they are 105 grams. What are S300's? Like 25grams heavier? To put it in perspective, Twofast is longer than me considerably with the driver. With irons I'm longer than him. Even my 50* GW is longer than his 49* PW. I also hit his short irons longer than he does. I tend to deloft the club as well as I have worked a long time getting the hands ahead at impact.

I am pretty sure thats the cause the delofting. I mean I have hit career shots like 180 7 irons 230 4 irons but nothing of the sort that you do on the daily basis. I am reading this book my mom just bought me called paper tiger. She thought it was about Tiger Woods' Swing on paper but as I read it and tell her what its about I guess she is really happy she bought it. I am gonna write a thread on it but the more I read the more I realize man I am only 16... I really got a shot on tour, Williamson didn't play until after college. I've been playing since 13 I really have a shot!

Don't get me wrong, shots like that are not my average or even what I take on a normal shot. I have about 12yds. between irons and 150 is between a 9 and 8 for me. Over 160 I start looking at a 7iron and 6 around 170-175. I am capable of hitting the 5iron well over 200 but as with any iron I go that long on I run the risk of pulling it. I'd rather hit them at 80% and go for accuracy, distance and trajectory control.

Distance doesn't matter all that much with irons IMO. If you hit a GIR 90% of the time from 155 with a 7iron and I hit it 45% of the time with a 9iron... what's that say? I'm still trying to find distances I can count on and it has to start with hitting pured shots more often.

Today was not quite as good. All there was available at this other range was a superlong tee. I got under a couple but once I got a very wide path grooved I was killing drives. Then I started going left for a few. I think I'm going to purchase my own rubber tees and cut one to driver length and another to 3W to take with me.

On a better note... I go the Circa '62 today and I absolutely love this thing. I spent a solid half hour on the putting green and this thing is so smooth. I even drained a few 30+ footers along with a 4-8-12ft. routine with 3 balls. I actually had swithced back to my Tear Drop 35" to get ready for it and I'm convinced I see the line and hit it on that line a lot better with a 35" putter. I'll get some pics of it for another thread tomorrow maybe. It's a beauty.

Driver is back on. What a difference just by getting a little further away from the ball and using that V55 grip. I'm hitting this thing so much higher than before. Drives stay in the air forever. I had 6 drives over 270 dead up the middle. It rained last night and the course was wet so not much roll out. My last drive of the day on 18 was inside 150 uphill from 425 and absolutely split the fairway. Feeling very good after today that I can put up some decent rounds in the next few months.
