Buyer's remorse...

So here's the story...

I used to play quite a bit high school/college etc. I was a 8-10 handicap depending ... then I started moving,dating, career-ing, etc. Upon moving to Manhattan I gave my clubs away (no room) and quit the game. So it's been 10-12 years since I played, (relo'd to OR) and good god I stink! My first shots with a typical driver were the worst banana balls I have ever seen! I needed new clubs etc., so I tried out a set of R7 draws (4-AW)...my god they were nice to hit, light (in comparison to the x20's!) and I just liked the way they looked.

Today I woke up and am kicking myself that I bought a "quick fix" and should have just bought a harder to hit club and worked on my swing more.

Did I make a mistake? What do you guys think?

Getting your confidence and feel for the game back is a good move IMO. You can always trade your driver in for another once you think you are ready without losing anything and perhaps even gaining a few bucks.

If you played off 8-10 your swing will come back and you can try whatever drivers you fancy. Mind you, if you are getting good results from your current club I'm not sure I'd be in any mad rush to change.

1. It's a game!! It is meant to be enjoyed! You enjoy the game more when you play/score better. Your new clubs will help you score better and help you enjoy the game. Don't look back!!!
2. Golf is 90% mental and the other 10% is all in your head. You purchased clubs that looked good and felt good. In your mind, those clubs will allow you to get the ball to the hole in fewer strokes. Take that confidence and build on it.
3. Never... NEVER have buyer's remorse. Even if you purchased a set of irons you'll never use... you made an investment towards your career of ho'ing clubs! You'll enjoy the R7's. If they hiccup, you've got excellent trading merchandise towards your next 'conquest'. You'll find most everyone on this board is looking for their next set of clubs. You CAN buy a better game!!! The few of us who do seem content with the clubs in our bag are either homeless/penniless after a life of ho'ing clubs... or, so old we can no longer get "out" slips from the nursing home to go trade clubs... or, (sshhhhhh) actually satisfied with the clubs in our bag.

Oh, by the way. If you want to dump the R7 Draws give me a chance to... Naaawwww!

When I saw the title of this thread I immediately thought of at least ten of us who might have written it. Then I realized that being a club ho has nothing to do with buyer's remorse, and everything to do with "Wizard of OZ" syndrome. We love our "Auntie Em" clubs. But the Emerald City beckons us, one and all...

Somewhere over the rainbow lie the magic clubs...
