driver swing v fairway wood swing

Played this morning - hit the driver as straight as I ever have - was even able to hit the nice little draw I wanted to on a dogleg, but the big stick was pretty straight all day

my 4 wood on the other hand, hook city - until the last hole (par 5) I opened the clubface after 3 hooks with the thing earlier in the round and had a nice little draw that got me home in 2

so, why the hook with the 4 wood? - it's a TM V-steel that I just pulled the MAS 70 shaft and put in a prolaunch 65 S (matches driver)

the 4 wood just looks like a baby driver (I play an r5n) and I have the same swing thoughts with each - I try to put the same swing on them, but hooked 3 20 yards left of the target

V-steel has a slightly closed face right?

is that enough to cause this, or is it the indian as much as the arrow?

I've had the exact opposite problem. 4-wood is a fairway-seeking machine. Driver is a left rough seeking chunk of frustration.

Changing shafts/heads doesn't seem to help.

Gotta' be my crappy driver swing...

Nah, I was just on TaylorMade's site this morning checking specs and they say it's square.

so much for the "this closed face helped me hook the ball" theory....I love that this is a "Vintage" club on their website - with that out, I'll have to revert back to the "wife just had our first baby, and I haven't played in almost a month" excuse - that works right?

Hit the driver and hybrid really straight today - pushed most of my irons a little right (irritates the hell out of me when I can't hit a 7 iron on my desired line)

I'm long overdue for a lesson to fix some of these kinks - so hard to find consistency when you're not playing all the time

  5. I was working with the driver and fw woods off the tee today at the range. Been doing the same thing as you. I have to weaken my grip a tad and set up square to slightly open with the FW woods. I was hitting the "true draw" with the 3 and 5 woods. The one that only moves 2 yards left with overspin. Give the setup a try.
