Anyone ever do one of these weekend golf school deals?

I'm talking stuff like the ESPN or Golf Digest Golf Schools...

They're like a weekend/long weekend, with a couple rounds of golf and instruction.

My GF asked me about it as a present and I said I'd ask people if they're worth it or just stick with local instructors???

Seems like a decednt experience but kinda expensive for two days of golf...

Anyone?

I did this:

Golf Schools, Instruction and Lessons by Golf Made Simple - Named #3 Golf School in America

All I can tell you is that after attending I went from a 22 handicap to a 15 handicap, and I shot my best round ever two days after the school ended.

It was a very different type of instruction. Not once did the teacher talk about the mechanics of the swing. This school is all about tempo and the philosophy of visualization and belief. If you want to work on making your swing more repeatable and mechanical, then this school is not for you. But if you want to learn to develop better rhythm and tempo, while learning to let your subconscious mind play a bigger role in your swing, then it will help you like it helped me. You have to put aside some pre-conceived notions you may have about "golf lessons" (one of the guys in the class was freaking out - "YOU HAVEN'T TAUGHT ME ANYTHING! WHAT ABOUT MY GRIP? WHAT ABOUT MY SWING PLANE?" The instructor replied, "what about it?"

I myself went through the class feeling somewhat skeptical about the method, but hey, I can't argue with the results.

I am about to take this 3 day class:

Jim Waldron's Balance Point Golf Schools

I did a good bit of research and just to be sure, I took 2- 2 hour lessons from Jim Waldron. All I can say so far is w-o-w! I have not yet tested my skills out on the course, but my practice sessions are amazing, I hit the ball solid and am actually drawing the ball- which for a slicer is HUGE.

That said I have had friends tell me about some 3 day schools that were a load of crap and worthless. The key is to do your research. I asked the pro for 5 former students contact numbers that I could call or email. I even asked the 5 people that I contacted if they had friends that they had referred to this class and contacted them as well- all reports were sterling.

I'll post a review of the course once I've finished it- I am set to go Aug 17th-19th.

I like the philosophy.

Looking forward to your review.
