Thread: A sure way to mess up your own swing......

  1. A sure way to mess up your own swing......

is to try to teach your girlfriend/wife how to swing a golf club. :faintthud

    OH

    MY

    GOD

After trying to show her the basics of grip, stance, and SWING for what seemed like an eternity, I finally said, screw it just hit the ball.

I'd make a terrible golf teacher. I really don't know how golf instructors do it without becoming alcoholics.

There is no way that I'm spending more than $10 on a set of irons for her, considering that the heads may never actually contact a golf ball.

Apparently I have a knack for teaching... At least that's what all my friend's say who i've helped out (also the few random ppl ive snickered at on the range and they challenged me to tell them what they were doing wrong and I actually helped them:laugh

I have great patience and understand the swing enough to help them and such.

If I bail on trying to make it playing, I my backups for that are either accounting or teaching this great game.

Although i'd never teach my gf to play, that'd just be brutal, she keeps saying she wants to play, but I can guarantee she'd get pissed off in less than 10 mins on the range

    That'll be 195.95$ plz

I have no patience for teaching either lol. I try to help my wife and she doesn't want to listen to me, then she messes up on the hit and blames me lol:hunter:

Part of my vocation is teaching. But I will only teach something I know a good deal about. I'm a natural teacher, and have been complimented many times on my ability to make a complex and difficult concept easy to understand.

I think if I had learned golf the right way early enough, and become a better player, I would have enjoyed being a teaching pro, and probably been pretty good at it.

But alas, I'll have to stick to teaching computer-based editing systems to video professionals.

Maybe you could try something along the lines of - Every ball you chunk, you owe me 5 minutes of fun tonight. Then buy her a large/jumbo bucket and keep track of how many balls she misses. You will be hoping she misses them, and when she hits them, that's a good thing. Win/Win situation.

  9. She already owes me more "fun" than I will ever collect on, just for quitting smoking.

I think I will have her work on some "Y" drills, then pitching. She needs something to get her contacting the ball and turning.

A BIG congrats on that Doc.

    You won't regret it.

  11. I did not even try to teach the wife. We went to the putting green a few times just to see if she would like it, and then I sent her to a local pro. Trying to teach a significant other is next to impossible.

Besides, there are already enough things on the planet that are "my fault", I do not need to add to the list.
