Thread: For Twofast - Swingvid

  1. For Twofast - Swingvid

I took some video of Twofast's swing last night. He wanted to look at it and figured I'd put it up for some input. He's obviously got a very good looking swing. My only advice last night was to stop trying to hit his 7iron 190yds.. He seems to pull so hard through with the irons it creates some incosistant contact, a little easier and smoother would be beneficial IMO.

    Putfile - twofastswing

I also had him take a quick vid of what I've been working on lately. Hitting a flatter trajectory high spin iron shot. Off the mat I've been trying to hit from the inside and contact on the 3rd groove up. It's working, I hit the flagstick twice. So just a little preview.

Absolutely not. Contact above the second groove is perfection. Low ballflight and high spin. I hit 3 of them last round, 7,8 and 9. None went higher than 20ft. off the ground and spun back 1-2 feet. 7 and 8 were absolutely pin high but left of the stick. The concentration required is paying off with other clubs too. I was striping my 13* off the mat after working on that for a few minutes. Now that I'm hitting FW's again with the driver, this is my next step to start making more birdies. My goal for the next year is ultimately to simply replace 2 bogies per round with 2 birdies. A 4 stroke swing in my cap.

I have never really paid attention to that before. Looking at my clubs I think I am more in the 4 or 5 grove area. Do you have a sweeping swing or a dig?

It would be nice to see a side-by-side comparo of your swing from a year ago, and your swing today. Just looking at it, I can see a great improvement. You've obviously been working hard on it.

Twofast has a very nice swing. I agree with you about dialing it down just a touch.

Also, a little more knee-flex will eliminate the slight bit of sway that's creeping in. Better balance = more consistency.

But it's a very good golf swing, no doubt.

I hit the ball a few times a round on the second groove, but where I come from they call it a thin shot. It typically flies 20 yards too far and about 6ft off of the ground. I cannot think about which groove to hit when I am playing well. I have actually never heard that before. I adjust my ball flight by moving the ball around in my stance and by the position of my hands at address. If you can be that precise, power to you.

Shhhh!! I'll never beat him then. Threeputtbogey shoud be his new name, lol. He's getting better though. Much more consistant than me. He's always in the 80's. I'm as likely to shoot a 99 as a 79.

I swing fairly steep, alway take a divot, even with a FW wood. The thing I'm working on is really a little flatter but still steep. I want the divot to start like over an inch past the ball. I've read a lot about how the best ballstrikers seem to almost hit the ball thin, divot way after the ball. When I get it correct it's unmistakable. Comes out low and slightly right, jumps up and draws slightly then stays low and online. Hit's the green still moving pretty quick, leaves a massive pitchmark and spins back. It's like the shot I was working on earlier in the year I called a "slingdraw" with my GW but I can hit it with every iron and my hybrid. I used it on a par 3 with the hybrid to attack a back pin a few weeks ago.

I like to mess around with different shots a lot. I'll get this one going for a few more weeks then move back to high fades for a few weeks. I'd like to perfect both these shots to attack front from high L to R and back from low R to L.

Same here, and as 19 said it's his camera.

Let the video play through and then watch it again, it should be smoother the second time.

  14. thanks for the comments guys..

my driver today was off.. not a single fairway hit. all the other tee shots were mostly on fairway. i would slice and hook, and top the last three shots, which i gave up on my driver for the day.

my irons were pretty much on target, w/ the aim little off. i had 8 GIR w/ only 2 fairway hits.

my putting.. BIG THUMBS DOWN.. the green that ez and i played was crazy. very hard to read. very fast.

need to fine tune my driver.. hopefully the new one should help.

  15. Grip and set up look pretty solid, if anything weight looks a little towards the heels, my issue would be with the very early rolling/rotation of the hands and forearms which causes the arm swing to get very flat and around the body resulting in a slight lift of the arms late in the backswing causing an across the line position, which we know can result in misses both sides. On the way down due to your weight being on the heels you straighten your spine angle and fall off the ball slightlymixed with the slightly steeper shaft angle and plane would explain the misses with the driver and pulls with the irons.

    Try to:
    • Get weight a bit more centered ( good drill is to set up and get someone to lightly push your chest, if you get pushed back onto your heels to easy you know your weight is still too far back)
    • Work on connection early on in the swing ( a drill i have said numerous times is to stick the butt end of the shaft in the belly button and try to keep it there to at least hip height)
    • These two things should help balance the others out, i would say as long as you have a fundamentally sound swing dont worry about hitting it hard, it is when it is a flawed swing you need to worry, i would say for you to find your normal tempo though i.e how fast you do things like walking, working and your natural body tempo.
