Worst round over your handicap?

What is the worst round you had in relation to your handicap?

I played this weekend and it was by far the worst round I had since I first started playing golf. I did not hit one good shot with an iron or wood. I was all over the place and was scrambling to make double bogie on most holes. My puttting and chipping was great but it was taking me 4 shots to reach the green on par 4's. I was hitting it fat, thin, shanks, slices, hooks. You name a bad shot and I hit it.

I usually shoot 100 give or take 3 strokes. I stopped keeping score after the 6th hole but I am guessing I shot close to 130. It was embarrasing since my buddie canceled on me at the last minute and I played as a single getting paired up with a couple of good golfers. Never before have I sucked so bad with my full swing. The weird part is that the previous round I played I had one of my best ball striking days ever.

I will never figure this game out. At least after this bad round I am due for a good round next weekend.

I shot 94, which is 12 over my cap on Thursday at a beautiful course here in Nova Scotia called Northumberland Links. It is an easy course tee to green, but once on the greens it is super hard. Lots of slope and 12.5 on the stimp = 40 putts. Still a great day with temperatures in the mid 20's c.

Just a few weeks ago I shot a 103 in a tourney, and I had a 9.9 handicap at the time. In golf, anything is possible.

About 5 years ago, playing off probably a 17-18 index, I carded a 122 on a relatively simple course. I remember it for a couple reasons. It was the first day I used my new Firesole driver at that time. I first learned the complete devastation or what a duck hook can do to your game. I think by the end of the round I was duck hooking everything longer than a 6i. The funny part one of my playing partners comment I was I was actually hitting some of my better Iron shots that day, but having a new driver I was committed to hitting the new driver.

The other guy was playing almost as bad and it was a simply comical day, and we were about equal handicaps. One that was highlighted by my hitting a hook almost sideways, through some bushes and ending up on a tee box two holes over that you couldn't even see. Hitting another on a par 4 that drove the green, unfortunately it was the wrong green but luckily no one was on the green. My friend proceeded to hit 2 houses in about 4 holes. He then topped off the day by actually hitting a ball into a yard and off of a trampoline (not joking), bouncing off the trampoline and landing within 5 feet of a sleeping dog that was less than amused that a golf ball woke him from his sleep. The poor thing had no idea what woke him up and went from barking to howling in all the confusion.

The last reason I remember it was that it was the first day my wife had beat me in a round of golf, and had it not been for that I likely would have stopped keeping score at 9. Which was when we went back to the car and realized we had left the hatch on the back of our car open and the keys in the car fortunately all was O.K. with that part. It was just a completely surreal day.

After 9 holes of my wife having a great round and not realizing how poorly I was playing, and my having told my friend who had stopped keeping score that the only reason I still did was for that reason, she commented that she may be able to beat me. We just broke out into laughter and she thought it was for other reasons until I told her I had a 61 on the front. Funny part was, she likely would have beat me regardless.

I believe that I the only time I ever had a higher score was the first round I ever played, where I had a 131.

Earlier this year, one my first rounds of the year at a new course. At the time I was a 15.8 (currently a 14.7) shot a +34 106. Some 18-19 strokes over my handicap. Yikes.

Shot a 61 on nine holes (25 over) when I was about a 16 back in June. So uh...34 strokes over? Duck hooks and massive slices into the woods and penalty strokes add up quickly. Included a nice 13 on one hole where I duck-hooked four times OB.

I shot better when I first picked up the game, at seven years old. Then again, back then I couldnt hit a ball far enough to lose it...

I shot a 96 today, that one's in the running.

This is what drives me up the wall. On 4 holes I hit perfect drives, perfect position and as far as I can reasonably drive the ball. I just couldn't improve on those drives. On those 4 holes I shot +9.

Now on 4 other holes I hit total abortions off the tee. Two snap hooks off the tee, one that didn't even reach the white tees on a 635yd. par 5. A push slice so horrible it ended up 2 fairways over and an overcut fade onto severe ball above feet lie standing on the cartpath to hit it. On those 4 holes I shot +5. So basically I'd score better if I just close my eyes and hit my tee shot.

This has to be some sort of mental thing.

H.S. tourney this year I shot a 102 with a 7 Handicap, so about 30 or so over, give or take a few. Talk about a long day. My coach followd me for 3 holes and laughed everytime I hit a shot. I laugh now, but certainly not then. Top it off I had a 101.9* fever. FANTASTIC day of golf.

about 16 years ago, playing to a 10, I shot 104 in the first round of the club championship... I played myself out of a 72 hole event in 7 holes. Took a 12 on the par 5 sixth hole, and followed it with a 10 on the par 4 seventh.... with a couple of earlier bogies I was already 15 over par in 7 holes....

Played 104-88 that weekend, followed it in rounds 3 and 4 the next weekend with 74-78. Golf is a strange affliction...

Amazingly, I have never shot 3 digits. I shot a 96 one day when I first started playing golf. I think my highest score since then is a 94.
