video of my swing.

so after my last swing, i mostly worked on the one piece take away and tempo. i've been striking balls better w/ this swing. overall if you run the video in real time it doesn't look all that bad, but when you slow it down, it's apparent that i have too much sway at the top of back swing. mostly due to my short legs, which need to stay tad more bent. please take a look at it and give me some feedback. thanks!

oh and thanks ez for posting it up!

SwingAcademy.com
my driver. pretty much straight shot.

SwingAcademy.com
3i. thinned a bit. still nice little draw.

SwingAcademy.com
PW. solid contact, right on the sweet spot.

Don't take any of the criticisms on there to heart either. Look for the guys swing that's posted the comments first. There are few guys who "hang around" over there and don't really know $hit apparently. They've got all sorts of videos posted under "low handicap" and the swings have glaring, huge flaws. I'd ask someone to review it for you or do it yourself. I noticed a guy said you have no weight transfer. Apparently if you had a weight transfer you'd get some power and actually hit one over 400, you big girl. Either that or he's confused, in his video he's got the a RP so bad I thought he'd fall on his a$$ on the throughswing, lol. I had to laugh at that one "no weight transfer", if he only knew you can outdrive him by 115yds. lol.

it's kinda funny, because he commented on my PW swing. it should have the minimum weight transfer compared to out clubs, hence i'm able to swing w/ narrower stands. i understand about the weight transfer though. i almost have a reverse pivot. and lot of head movements too. need to fix that. i have decent lag, but not great.

big girl? ooohh.. don't stop ez.. lol

you know we have the same problem at the top of the swing. we sway a bit on the upper body. you tend to use your upper body while the lower body stays quiet while mine is upper body plus lower body. your swing does look better. you are tad bit going past parallel, but definitely an improvement from before. down the target line video, it's apparent that you are leading the swing w/ your body, which is good, but i feel like you need bit more extension through the swing. besides that i think you're doing lot of good things. positive changes i might add.

At the risk of being accused of not knowing what I'm talking about...

Driver and 3-iron. What I see is a bit of lower body sway, combined with excessive shoulder rotation. The right hip moves laterally away from the target as the club approaches the top, and the shoulders take the club well past parallel. Your first move down involves the right shoulder pulling towards the target. This is the upper body sway you're talking about. You get ahead of the ball a bit in an effort to get the club back to the ball in time, and compensate with an early release. Pause the clip at impact and notice how your left hand no longer leads the clubhead. I would bet that you take very shallow divots.

Overall, it looks like a powerful swing. A bit more lower body stability, along with a tighter shoulder turn, will allow your natural power to match your natural tempo.

OK - your turn. I'm trying to focus on accuracy, since my lack of flexibility limits my power. I've been working on developing a more 2-pivot swing. I think my backswing looks ok. I need to maintain my wrist **** a bit more, and swing into a firmer left side. But my chicken-wing is slowly getting better, as I learn to deliver the club more from the inside. Not there yet, but I'm feeling better about it.

Good site BTW, Ezra. I will post lots of my mediocre swing here for analysis.

It's difficult to analyze all the swing from 1 point of view. Looks powerful, athletic, and basically sound. Some tweaking. I agree with Eracer in the driver+3wood you tend to be ahead or even (hard to tell from angle) of the ball rather than behind it with your shoulders. I believe if you can get that fixed that shoulder turn will be corrected and you will be more connected.

Overall, you have solid base swing to tweak.

thanks for the replies. i was pretty relaxed and i didn't really focus to tighten my back swing. i was pretty suprise actually because i don't usually go past parallel.

you also have very sound swing. i like the way you use your body to swing the club. i didn't see any chicken wing but a solid connected impact position.

one thing w/ follow through though, is that it "seems" like after the impact, you're swinging through w/ your arm instead of finishing your body turn. this could be from flexibility. good weight shift and smooth transition from the top to impact.

Yeah bro, I wanted to critique that driver swing a little, but the downswing is too good! Keep doing what you're doing. You deliver that head so fast that as long as its consistent, you can wear lipstick on the course without anyone giving you shit.

(maybe)

My lessons right now are focusing on getting my hips more involved in the downswing. You are right on about the "arm swinging". I believe it's because, like you say, I don't power the follow-through with my legs. In the past, I've always pointed my knees towards the target in my follow-through, in a misguided effort to make a full turn through. I've been trying to use Charnockpro's drill of holding the butt-end of a club against my belly. Seems to be helping.

Thanks for the comments!

Even though there are 100 other comments ill give u my 2 cents.

On PW at least... widen the stance slightly.
All Swings: STOP OVER SWINGING. its a problem I still Have and when i play well i am actually just before parallel. It looks like every shot you are trying to kill. It should look fluid.

All I can add to what's been said is to take a long look at your left arm at release.

To me it looks a little cramped as you get through the ball.

You should be looking to get here....

http://www.oneplanegolfswing.com/asp...an_hold_on.jpg

To me it looks as if you left arm stays behind a little too much. Extending it and properly releasing the club will give you better striking and control.

Otherwise your swing looks good, bit of an overswing but nothing ridiculous.

Oh admit it, you were trying to keep up with Bubba Daly. You are screwed now, I'm flying the 5 over 200.

I have noticed lately you get the hands higher on the backswing, good but sometimes you are getting past parallel. I noticed it last time we played at Swansea. Your driver swing was longer than I've ever seen it. You are also getting quicker on the backswing/takeaway.

I don't know what I'm doing. I thought I was taking a much shorter backswing with the driver but it's even longer. I just don't get it. I may have to just ditch the driver for a while. I did alright with the 5W and eager to see how the 3W looks. Maybe if I groove it with the irons and FW woods for a month or so I can resist the urge to kill the driver.
