15 Minutes

I went for that trial lesson this evening. It actually was more like a half hour. Lessons are a lot better with 2 camera's rolling and then playback on the monitor. The instructor is a really nice guy and I understand what's he's saying. He showed my how my weight is getting outside on the right foot at the top, causing me to go past parallel. He gave me 3 drills to work on that. He gave my grip a check and showed me how not only how the hold the club better but how to adress and grip it. He also showed me about getting more width, hands away from the head. I liked how he had a rack of books right there and went into one from Leadbetter and another from Harmon to show me things. He had the V2 software and had me side by side with whoever the example pro was on there. It was easy for me to see the differences as he drew lines to show things.

It was a lot to digest for 15 minutes but the good thing is he's got a special right now. For $80 I can get 3 half hour lessons. I'm jumping on that. Finally someone has given me a valid reason as to "why" I keep going past parallel. Beats paying an instructor $80/hr. to hold shaft over my head. This instructor is better for me IMO. He's working on the problems, not trying to change everything. I'm looking forward to working with him. I have to say I almost felt bad about walking out without giving him something, he was very helpful in just the "free trial".

I thought your 15 minutes were up?

Sounds like you got some solid stuff to work on and $80 for three 1/2hr sessions with video is a killer deal! Do you get to keep the videos?

That "instructor" was on America's Most Wanted, you may not want to make that video

I actually didn't ask about that but I mentioned I take video frequently at the range. I told him about Swingacademy and he asked how much it costs. I told him "free" and he then wrote it down. So that would be cool if he could either post them on there or just look at my range vids and analyze them for me. I got some good stuff and it's got me excited to start working on it. Now I gotta get rid of these stupid clubs and get some $$.

Dude, you've made some pretty big changes already this fall so these additional tweaks will have your swing completely rebuilt by the start of the next season. I can't wait to see how these things go for you next year!

Here was my analysis of your SwingAcademy footage:

"What I see is a bit of lower body sway, combined with excessive shoulder rotation. The right hip moves laterally away from the target as the club approaches the top, and the shoulders take the club well past parallel."

I'll take a check or money order...

Too many big words for my I guess. Good analysis but now I'm getting the drills and fixes for it finally. Thanks E, I'll go back over the analysis you did.

did you need a coupon for the lesson? i might go try. i'm getting better w/ the new instructor, but no video, and it'll be better if i can see my own swing while someone's analyzing it for me at the spot.

Yes, just go in there and they have them on the counter. The guy's name is Dan Neary and I think he's there every day but Mon. and Tues.

On a seriouser (i know thats not a word) note, I cant wait to start lessons with J.Jacbos golf school in march. But i will be working with a local guy in the golf dome, so Ill be doin stuff. Just will have to pop some balls out into the snow every now and then to make sure im not developing some weird ball flight after it'd hit the dome that i cant see indoors.

Ez, how long can you golf until in RI?
