Pro's can hit a 100 mph fast ball....I cant hit a 85 mph fast ball
Pro's can throw a football 75 yards,...I cant
Pro's can make 90% of their free throws,...I'm lucky to make half
Pro's can run the 40 yard dash in 4.3 seconds, I'm fat and slow
Pro's can kick a soccer ball 50 yards with a awesome hook into the corner of the goal,...I would slip and bust my butt
Pro's can hit a baseball 400 feet,..I might be able to hit a softball 300 feet,..sometimes
Pro's can shoot under par,.......I'm a boggie golfer...I'm not a pro....But I have fun on the golf coarse and sometimes, sometimes pull off a pro shot!

I thought of this a few weeks ago when I was playing like crap....I told myself that I'm not as good as I think I should be...I'm not going to shoot par so dont get pissed when I dont....just have fun, enjoy being with my buddies,....play the best I can and if I shoot a 92,...be happy...and remind myself I wasnt at work that day.

I shoot for bogey golf...so when i make par, its like shooting a birdie, and birdies are eagles and eagles are albatros and albatroses wont ever happen for me so i dont even worry about what to call it...

But your right, the fact of the matter is we play for the fun, not the money(at least i dont), so it doesnt really matter what the score is, its all about the fun factor.

I can hit the ball further than Fred Funk, I have a better free throw % than Shaq, ive kicked a soccer ball 50 yards with a nice hook into the top corner, I can hit a homerun.

Consistently? Maybe not so much. But I can play golf better than 98% of the golfing population in the world (according to GD, some study was that only 2% of golfers in the world are able to break par).

Are you an 18 handicap like me? Are you beginning to realize than 90 is a decent score for you? You want to really change the way you think?

Hit the links (play from 6000 yards or less) for three rounds in row (about the time it will take you to get over how strange it seems) with only six clubs:

Start with the club you are most confident in that goes more than 150 yards yards - for me it was my 4 hybrid.

Then add clubs in 2-loft increments. For me it ended up being:

4 hybrid
6 iron
8 iron
SW (I substituted the SW for the PW, since it's a more versatile club)
Putter

If the longest club you're conident in got that will go at least 150 yards is your 7 iron, then play with the 7, 8, 9, PW, SW, Putter.

Now go play every par 4 for bogey. Plan every shot on the par 4 holes to get you at your best wedge distance for your 3rd shot. Then fire at the flag and try to two-putt for bogey, or one-putt for par.

It will feel very strange standing on a 400-yard par 4 with a mid-iron in your hand, but you WILL hit more fairways, and your 2nd shots WILL be in the fairway much more often, and if you can hit a decent wedge you WILL score better.

Forget about par 5's. On a 500-yard hole I hit 180 (4H), 180 (4H), 140 (8i) - hardly any different than I usually play it, since I very seldom go for it in two.

Par 3's? You do have to be a bit creative here, especially with two-loft increments, since you will be between clubs a lot, and you may face a long par 3 that you can't reach. Oh well..

I really enjoyed the experience of playing like that, and I shot the best scores in a long time.

I could hit a hr off smoltz, it'd take me awhile, but i'd get one.

I wouldnt BEAT Funk, but i'd outdrive him every hole.

The soccer is legit, ask my gr11 gym teacher.

Yeah. Faced with a 420 yard par 4, what do most 18 cappers do? They hit a driver, which is a low-percentage shot. Now, even if they hit a good drive of 230 yards, they have 190 in, and what do they do? Grab a 3 iron and "go for it!" Often with predictably bad results. More often they hit a lousy drive, try to recover, don't, and end up taking four or more shots to reach the green. Whereas if they hit 180 (4H), 160 (6i), 100 (wedge) they'd be putting for par far more often.
