Rock hard greens

Ever play a course with ridiculously hard greens? Twofast and I played with my boss at a shorter, easier track than usual. These greens were ridiculous. I hit a bunch of them but the ball just bounced off. Hit the GD fringe with a SW from 80yds., way back in my stance and hit went off the back, nuts. I think I held one green all day and that was from 135 with a shut down SW. Ball was in the air for like 30 seconds. It left a pitchmark so big you could have put the friggen flagstick in it. I've played this course before and the greens are usually hard but today they were like rocks. I watched Twofast's ball from the fringe on a near full 54* wedge get the spin knocked right out of it and fly off the back. Oh, wait, I held 2 greens, the other was a PW from 139. Ironically they were slow as all he!! when it came to putting them.

I play a course that gets like that in the summer. You just have to land short of the green and let it run up, it's too much of a pain to try to fly it there.

This one makes it tough. Greens are elevated with long rough surrounding and most are guarded by 2 bunkers. The only good thing is after they bounced off the rough at them right up and a little chip is all I had on most holes.

the course wasn't too hard, very small green, probably 30ft in diameter. the greens were hard in terms of holding the ball, but i really have to wack w/ my putter, still ending short on a down hill putt. this is suppose to be an easy track, but the greens were just unpredictable.

i had several 9i-60* wedge approach shots which would've spun back or at least checked near the pin. but ended up rolling all the way back of the green.

One of the links courses we played in Scotland last September was like that. More than once I would drop the ball on the near edge of the green only to watch helplessly as it rolled all the way across the green and off the back side...frustrating, to say the least.

Yeah, I know the feeling. I have a golf club around my house call Indian Run. The greens on that place are always hard and fast. I have to land the ball, at minimum, on the fringe to be able to hold those babies.

Lots of low spinning shots will not do at this place.

I played a drought-dried course in Indiana like that once. Any ball that hit the green from outside of 100 yards was off the back - no exceptions. In fact, from 150 yards out you could hit 20 yards in front of the green and the ball would bounce off the back. It was ridiculous. I hated it.

i can deal w/ hard and fast because that's understandable. but hard and slow greens just makes you wonder over pitches and putts.

Yes! I played a coarse here in Ga earlier in the year. You couldnt stop a ball to save you rlife. Just touch it and its gone! It was like putting on glass
