Hi, I'm a hacker

and this is my first post on your very nice website.

I just started hacking again after a 20 year layoff. I've taken 2 lessons, been to the range a dozen times, and hacked my way through 1 round (115 on the Applewood course outside of Augusta, GA.)

Basically, my golf swing sucks, so I hope I'm in the right place.

And it's really hot here this time of year. I almost passed out yesterday at the range. Is it ever too hot to golf?

Welcome. Is the name a play on the Augusta heat, or are you a husky owner?

Welcome back to the game. The lessons are a great start back into it, as is the range time. Be patient, and remember to have fun.

As to the heat... I grew up in Savannah GA, and currently reside in TN. It was 92 in the shade Saturday, but not too hot. Remember to stay hidrated, and carry a wet towel. It's amazing how well the wet towel will cool you off.

Either that, or drink lots of beer and eat lots of banannas.

Yes. Hit 120 here recently, damn nearly killed me. Given the heat along with the humidity, I'm considering giving up for the summer.

Sounds like your in the right place, there are plenty of us here. Living in TX, I don't think it's ever really too hot to play if you have enough to drink. Water that is. A cold beer or four after is nice as well.

Two weeks ago it was 105 during our Wed. tourney. We did have one older guy, (he's in his 80s) who had to drop out but everyone had a good time. It's just the price you pay to live where golf can be played year round.

Welcome to the forum.

I used to have Siberian Huskies, but sadly they all passed away due to old age. Now I have 3 mixed-breed dogs from the Humane Society. They are all avid Golf Channel watchers.

Supposedly, the high here yesterday was only 96, but the heat index was 105. Stupidly, I was standing in the sun while at the range, instead of in the covered boxes. I won't make that mistake again during the summer.

Oddly enough, Sib... I own a sib that I rescued from the humane society (full blooded though.). He is great. A very vocal comedian with 4 legs and big, pointy ears.

He's a beaut. I don't have any pics of my Huskies on the computer. They are great dogs, but not for everyone. Don't you love the shedding storm twice a year? One former girlfriend, upon looking around my house and seeing the ankle deep fur (I vacuum EVERY day) said "I just can't live like this" and left.
