my 3i and 4i suck

my 5i is great. 3w and 5 w are great. even my driver is great, but I can't hit the 3i, and the 4i for beans. it always is a crap shot, and when I do make good solid contact with it, I end up getting it really high and as far as my 6i. I have no clue how to fix this. Ideas?

A hybrid or a FWY wood might be the choice. If you check for the Taylormade Rescue mid on Ebay or Global Golf they have those in a 22* loft. That should fit right in between the 5W and 5i and allow you to cover both with one club.

Either that or work on the irons. I tend to make a small adjustment when I hit a 3i. I weaken my right hand grip up, turn it counterclockwise. I have a tendency to smother a long iron. I also play it open at adress and hover it, not ground it, gets me to make more of a sweep and clip impact rather than the trap and compress impact with a higher iron. Basically I hit the 3i very similar to a fairway wood off the deck. I used to use hybrids for a while but have had much better success with a 3iron. I still hit a bad shot now and then but it's almost always just a short shot, not hooked 100yds. offline like my hybrid misses.

I gave up on the 3i and the 4i. I got hybrids to replace them, and I'll never go back.

King Par is an unknown quantity at this point
I used Ez's trick. Open the face and hover it above the ground. I hit two of the best 4 irons I've ever hit in a row. 210 yard Par 3. It worked the whole round. I'm sticking with it. I can't get over the look of Hybrids, to be honest I've never even hit one. Just held one and looked down at it. I can't get over the look.

My 5 iron is usually around a 195 yard carry and I had problems with my 3 and 4 iron last year and havent hit them at all this year. Might try them out later though. My swing is a lot better.
