and the pendulum swings

I started out todays round with a borderline skyball on a downhill par 4. Hit the cart path and rolled to 150 out on a severe below feet lie. I considered that a "good bounce." From there on out my round was bad and good luck it seemed combined with some really bad club decisions on the front. I kept leaving shots short, in bunkers or thick rough. The greens on this couse are insane fast and undulating, not to mention it's built on a virtual mountain with a 200ft. elevation change. I proceeded to double #1 and then pick SW over GW in on 2 and made triple.

On 3 I hit into a fairway bunker, par 5 and hit towering 7 that clipped a treetop and dropped straight down. It would have been all over the stick. I hit a horribly shot SW into the bunker and made another double. Fast forward to 9 where I killed a drive up the hill to 90yds. out from 370. Hit what I thought was perfect GW cut off the backstop, get up there and it rolled off the friggen back. I have no idea how that happened. Carded a GD 51 out front, doubles on both par 3's.

On 10 the pendulum swung back my way. Drove it deep and smack in between 3 fairway bunkers. Walked up the hill and found a pine inline with the stick. Hit a near perfect 5W right online. It hit the upslope above the bunker and rolled back in. I did some self talk and although I'd hit some atrocious bunker shots out front I stuck with my pitch and runner. I knew it was good when I struck it, hit the green and skidded into a roll straight at the stick.... could it? would it? Around the cup and in!! 2nd Eagle of my life!! Take that 51!!

I'd decided that I was going to start swinging the GD club on the back and did. Hit the next par 3 from 180 with an 8iron. This POS green breaks uphill since it's right up on the 200ft. drop. I made the mistake of playing it like an uphill putt and blew a 25footer almost 20ft. by. 4 putted the thing for a 5. ouch!!

Next hole I settled down, hit driver dead center and a 6iron from 202 to 10ft. Missed bird, tap in par. I hit every FW on the back but 1, the one I made the eagle on, lol.

Fast forward to 18, 455 uphill and a waste area from about 40-120yds. out from the green. Piped a drive that started cutting... and cutting, hit the lone tree and bounced right out on the fwy. but a very ball below feet lie. Luck was on my side as the lateral hazard was coming at that ball quick in the air.

Didn't want to hit 5, felt 6 would get there from 197 with a little wind, even uphill. I blocked it right but pin high in the rough, carried all of 195. Hit a semi flop that needed just another few inches to be perfect but caught rough intead of the big slope on the green. I hit a really good downhill chip with the SW breaking R to L to inches, headed right at the center of the cup. Tapped it in for a 40 out back.

I believe that's the biggest difference in 2 9's I've ever had. I made 2 decisions today. #1 is that the R7TP is the best driver for me I've ever had. Nailed it today. Wet fairways and several drives coming out over 280. #2 is that I think I'm going to get another 60* wedge. I couldn't stop the ball with the SW out on the front at all. Not sure what wedge to buy but I want something with some serious ball stopping power out of the greenside rough.

Thanks man. I've missed a few myself, haven't had that many chances though. Twofast and I did a rather gay looking high 10, lol. What a difference front to back. It's wierd how I wasn't really playing all that much better, just getting much better lies. I started out with a ball on a 45* slope below my feet on #1 and maybe more than that above my feet on the 2nd hole.

I wore a wrap on my right elbow becuase I've gotten some tendonitis. Probably just coincidence but it was easily me best driving in a long time on the back 9. Hit a few good ones out front as well.

I just picked up a Mizuno MP-t Raw haze wedge for $39.99.

can't beat the price with a stick, they have several lofts and bounces.

I grabbed a lob the other week, and it's like someone slams the ball on the green. I can make the ball stick like glue where it lands.

It wouldn't have been so bad if we both hadn't done a little leg kick at the same time.

Haven't hit a ball in almost a week and won't for a few more days at least. Probably July 4th at the earliest. Hoping the right elbow heals up and the new swing is ingrained. I was really hot on that back 9. Should have shot lower though.

Take a look at these
Maltby Milled Wedge Heads
I used one of the heads recently -really impressed with the milling on the face and it felt great when I tried to hit it
or the club pack
M-Series Milled Wedge Club Pak
for the price, I don't see how you could find a comparable wedge

just got a free shipping email this morning
