could pulling your head up cause a slice?

I played a couple holes with a pretty good golfer that works at the course so we got to mess around a bit near closing hours for free. I'm pretty consistent making solid contact, distance isn't a concern at all for me, not only do I play fairly long, but I can reach any par 5 on the course in two pretty much if it's on the fairway. He said my tempo was too fast and I pulled my head up like I wanted to see where the ball was going right at impact. Could I be stopping my club from coming back square with such a move? I work two jobs so practice time at the range is out of the question. The only practice I get is on weekends when I'm actually playing the game. The course I'm a member at though is a very easy, laid back course, no sandtraps to worry about, just some water in places I tend to like to hit the ball...the right. Thanks.

Forgot to add, I'll hit a few straight shots during the round, the slice is more often then not a push slice, with some mixed in pushes and a pull or two if I try to close the clubface more coming into the ball too much.

Picking your head up tends to open your body, thus leaving the clubface open, thus promoting a slice. In my case it was a HUGE slice until a little birdie told me to swing easy and let the club do the work. I tried that for a while but was still getting a slice, just not as bad. Then I worked on my hands. I make sure that I turn my hands over at impact. It is a little hard to get used to but that is what a range is for. After getting my hands to turn over I was hitting some BIG draws, almost a full blown hook. Now, I make sure that I make a calm rhythmic swing, turn my hands over at impact and throw the clubhead towards my target. When I focus on those 3 things I hit it damn straight/slight draw everytime. Something that might work for you.

Sounds like me! lol I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong last Sunday, guy I was with told me I was lifting my head just as you describe. Bingo! Problem solved. Hope it works for you too.

Yeah I tried working on that a little and knocked a deep straight 5wd tee shot.
