have you set a goal for yourself, if so, hows it coming

my goal this year was to shoot in the 80's and keep it there,....I've played alot of golf since January,....and have shot in the 80's just about every time....for me it wasnt my playing ability, I'm good enough to shot 83,84......but it was about me controlling my temper,....if I get mad, I play like crap.....so far its been good. I can only recall one time this year I didnt shoot in the 80's..........how about you?

Mine is to not lose by more than 10 strokes to MCDavis' wife or 13 year-old son when we play next week...

My goal is to get down to a 12. I'm at a 14 now, started the season at 15... so I'm getting there. Going in the right direction anyway.

One of my goals was to be consistent and get my cap down to 10. So far I've gone from a 36 to a 51 for nine holes so I've failed miserably!!

My other goal was to get more distance off the tee and I bought the "4 magic moves" lesson package and worked on it over the winter to get more "lag". I finally have got it working better so did succeed on the more distance goal.

I seem to go in peaks and valleys. Right now I'm half way down to the valley again. I've struggled with the driver mostly when at the "peak" (getting me in trouble) and I think I've got that resolved.

My next "plan" is to putt better where I can really knock off the strokes. I'm not putting bad but not great and I want to putt great. That should be where the most strokes will come off.

My boy learned some humility last night, E. We played the front 9 at our local muni, me and a friend from the whites, him and the friend's daughter from the reds. It's a short 9, par 35, #9 is the only par 5 on the front.

First 5 holes were ugly, my highlights being a bogie on #2, a quad on #3, and stepping on to the tee at #6 (par 3) 2 shots back. Pulled my tee shot left off the green with a right pin. His tee shot is 6 inches off the front of the green in front of the pin, 15 feet away. I blow my chip and am 15 feet for par. He putts to an inch, tap in par. Winked at him and drained the par putt. He doesn't congratulate me.

#7 is a wash.

#8 is a 321 yard par 4. My drive goes right off the tee and I lose it in the trees. His is solid but left. We drive down to the #9 tee box and ask the guy if he saw a ball. He says "There's one over in front of the green." Yes, there's my ball 10 yards off the front edge of a small green (I tend to play a natural draw...looks like it really helped this shot!). We drove back to his ball and he doesn't say a word. He goes +2, I par (short chip, 2 putt), so we're all even after 8 holes.

#9 is a 477 yard par 5 straight away. My buddy hits his G10 solid and down the middle. I follow with a beautiful staight drive down the right hand side that winds up 20 yards past the G10 (did you read that wbl...G5 20 past the G10!). My son proceeds to sky one about 50 yards out, followed by a slice of epic proportions. He winds up bogie to my birdie, and I take him by 2, 46 - 48. btw, my drive on #9 was 180 out. Hit a low running 3 iron on and 2 putted for bird.

Ok, first off I'm not claiming those 2 drives are my normal game, nor am I stating the yardages of the drive as I didn't have a rangefinder to be accurate. Just stating the score card info, and that the tees were about where they should be to match the scorecard. I've played this course all my life and they were 2 of the longest drives I've ever hit on those holes.

2nd, I know he's 13 and some of you are going "Good job picking on a kid". Understand that he's been shooting 39-42 regularly on this nine from the red tees for about 4 months now including a few times in school matches. I shoot 42-48 on the same 9 from the whites. The boy has game and will definitely be beating me on a regular basis before he's old enough to drive a car. Also, he and I are very tough on each other about golf in a typical father/son competitive (but good) way. This is the first time we've played together in months, and all he's talked about is how bad he was going to beat me when we played. He had a hard time with his score and his loss.

My buddy told him afterwards that there are 2 parts to the game of golf: the physical side and the mental side. He probably beat me on the physical game (he hit the ball better, honestly), but he got beat on the mental.

Eracer, with you having home course advantage, I doubt you'll lose to any of us!

Yeah, I can tell I'll be spending Wednesday night taking notes from the website!!

Website: Play down the left side due to the slope of the fairway and beware of the water crossing in front of the green 230 yards from the tee.

Eracer: Go ahead and play to the right. That water's at least 300 out, don't worry about it!!

My goal was to take something from MC, besides a certain bit of innocent.

Other than that? Get my short game tighter, which is going splendid.
