Dear Single Behind Us

The course is already slow. There is a Club Match Play a few groups in front of us holding everything up.

Playing balls close to us because you are impatient doesn't win me over......

When you try and join my group you should be a little more humble.... possibly appologize for the close shots..... And not be Mr. Golf all of a sudden.....

Now that you are in my group this gives you no right to rush the 4 some in front of me now either..... And when you drive off like your going to leave.... Just leave don't come back and keep whining about how slow it is....

I know it's slow.... Nothing I can do about it..... I wish it were fast but I'm just here for a late game and trying to help out my friend.... All was going fine untill you forced yourself on us and spewed negativity...... We were having fun regardless of the pace.... It's a beatifull night!!!! Take off Eh!!!!

What's your opinion about singles on the course......???

I'd let him pass if we were slow but man this guy was a dillhole!!!! The course was backed up and we didn't even want him to join with us.... Nor did the group behind him......

IMO a single has just as much right to be on the course as anyone else. When I play alone I have never had trouble with a group ahead of me. If they are able to let me pass they do, if they cant I wait and hit a few extra balls.

Agreed. But on busy days, the course management is irresponsible for letting singles out alone, unless there are no twosomes or threesomes that the single can join.

I agree. This is how I play. I usually play as a single in the evenings. I'll look at the next hole over, if there's a pile up, I'll drop a couple on the 150 and 100. And just work on some shots around the green.

I play alone more than anything else, but I also rarely if ever play on busy days. I never attempt to rush or pressure people in front of me, but I do appreciate it when they notice me and let me through. Couple in front of me didn't seem to want to let me through last week (I started waiting on them from the tee at hole 3, they finally let me play through after they finished hole 6) and I just used the time to piddle around and enjoy the view, practiced doing that bounce the ball on the club trick like Tiger did in that Nike commercial, took a few little chips and putts here and there, tried to see how long I could balance the putter on one finger, etc. It only bothered me when a group came up behind me and started pressuring me (I guess they thought I was just some dipshit standing around on the course balancing a 7-iron on his finger,) but once they saw me standing around on the tee of the next hole obviously waiting to tee off they stopped.

I play alone a lot. Unless the group in front of me is REALLY slow, I don't mind. Mainly because when I slow down and take my time I do much better. But generally if a group is really slow I don't have a problem.

I has no friends,

Thusly, I play alone a lot. Consequently, I run into people a lot. I give them there time and be curteous, unless there is no one in front of them, they are painfully slow, and they refuse to let me through.

Then I, how you say...make my way through.

I never golf alone! I tried it once and it was terrible. I have enough of a "head-lift fest" when I play with others so you can imagine what would happen when I was alone. Now sex...I do that alone

I play alone on occasion and simply play at the pace the course allows. If I'm held up, I practice.

I played as a single this past Sunday. The round started out nice but on the 10th hole the course stared backing up, don't really know why.

Anyway, I was waiting on the 3some in front, and a 3some in back was starting to play a little close. I had asked them previously if they wanted to join me, and they declined.

As I was walking off the green on a par 5, not even halfway to the cart, a ball plops down. One of the guys had hit the green on his 2nd shot.....from 250 yards. Missed my head by maybe 10 yards. Too close, IMHO.

Truly a great shot. And I told him so when he drove up. I also told him I would appreciate it if he would wait until I was off the green before he hit in. He looked a little flabbergasted, so maybe he didn't realize how close it was.

But if the course is backed up, and you're having to wait 10 minutes on every tee box, why the heck wouldn't you wait 1 frigging minute to hit in to a green? Makes no sense to me.

I play alone a lot as well. I would never go out alone if there were 3 or 4 foursomes on the first few holes. I would probably wait and see if a twosome or threesome came along. The most groups I would try to play through in 18 is 2 groups.

That said I play quite a few rounds as the first person off at the b*tt crack of dawn. I love it, because in a cart I can play in under 2 hours and walking in about 2.75 hours. The downside is playing on a few greens that they have not cut yet.

I will say though nothing is worst than trying to play through when you are walking.

I don't mind the slow play. I play slow sometimes too, but I generally keep the pace up.

If I'm with a buddy, he and I blitz through the holes quick. We play ready golf, and don't dick around forever. If it's slow, it's slow. We enjoy the views, and maybe take a few extra practice swings, maybe try a long putt when we are done.

But Sunday, it was SLOW!! Tee time was 10, they tried to pair us with some other guys, they declined. Tried to pair us with the 2 behind us.. Negative they said.

I felt like we had the cooties or something. The starter said it was going to be slow, 8-4somes, 5-3somes, and then 5-2somes infront of us.

I didn't mind, until the 3rd hole, when the back up happened. It's like falling asleep in your cart. No one wanted to speed up, and the only relief we got, was the rain. It ran some off, and some pulled off the course under the trees. We played through 1 group.

The worst however, was the retards who had like a backswing and set up so slow you could literally count to 10 once he moved his club up and back down. Oh and they played the tips. All of this for a 20yard shank, every hole. So on 17, my partner and I got on the tee box of the long par 5, with a hill at the top. The slow and slower groups paired for a rediculous 6 total. It was like watching paint dry. Buddy tee'd off, and got amazing carry, his drive rolled almost under their cart as they pulled off the hill, and mine was just a few yards ahead with a good roll off the hill. The guys behind turned around to see us waiting for second shots while they continues to rack up over 10 shots before reaching the fringe.

Ugh. I'm no great golfer, I shoot low 90's, but I play where I should, and I let singles pass if they ride my ass, but if your in a large group, try and be a LITTLE faster. The course just did a crappy job of starting people.

I play solo more than I play with others, that being said it is better to be the jovial and courteous single rather than the ******* loner. People who constantly complain and bitch get no love from me. Don't ruin my day because you think you're a 10 hdcp but play to a 22. You know the type.

I usually put off joining the group in front until we get log-jammed at a tee box. I'd much rather sit back, play two balls and enjoy the extra practice time.

If the course is that crowded I would hope the starter wouldn't let a bunch of singles and twosomes play without pairing them up. It helps everyone in the long run.

Oh.......but if you do sit there and take 25 practice swings at an open green for fifteen minutes, I might be forced to put a warning shot over your bow to wake you up.
