Divot Pattern...

Just poking around youtube and stumbled across this:

Suppose this should be common sense, but I'm so inconsistent with the size of the divots I take at this point, I never thought to try a utilitarian approach to my usual random destruction of the range turf. I just thought I'd share for other noobs.

I swing quickly, and thus, take a large divot.

What hes getting at makes sense, but the size of the divot isn't terribly important...usually.

i take pretty big divots too. but, for about 100balls i hit, i'm using 2X2 at the most. this is one of my pet peeves as some people on grass area (we have to pay extra to hit on grass area around here, but not this range) doesn't make the "pattern" and use up so much space . when i try to get on, i don't have clean 2x2ft of space anymore.

I tried to educate someone about this same thing. He got offended.

Well yeah, I guess I take for granted its one of the first things my pops taught me.

Go in a line when hitting balls.

our head greenkeeper says he prefers people to be a bit more random - and not hack out an entire area. Apparently it's easier to get the grass to grow back, rather than having to reseed an entire area - and potentially have to returf it!
