Did he look like this kid?

I believe every word there Siberian. There are EXTREMELY long players that nobody's heard of. Just look at Jason Gore.

The only thing keeping these guys from being the best in the world is consistency, short game, and head game.

Hitting it long is just a physics equation, solved.

Consistently controlling it, and having a great short game is what makes the elite the elite.

You should have asked him to look you up when he needs a caddie in a year or two.

I have trouble wrapping my head around a 275 yard 4 iron. Or 3 iron. Maybe a 2 iron or 1 ron, cause even Daly has done that.

You DO realize that 275 yards is almost 3 football fields? And you DO realize that 275 yards is somewhere close to the average driving distance on the PGA tour, by the best of the best?

I'm not calling the story into question by any stretch, I'm just saying...

Thats's him, only when I saw him, he had a scraggly set of chin whiskers. Very polite, though; even shook my hand.

When I said I had never seen anyone hit an iron like that, he laughed and said "Now if only I could putt".

At 53, I don't even want to carry my own clubs, much less someone else's.

brcrowe, I understand your disbelief. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't believe it either.

Now I have never seen anyone hit a 350 yard drive in person, only on TV, which doesn't really give you the whole scope and appreciation of the shot. But I know it's done all the time.

Sib. I'm not calling you into question. I wonder if this kid may have been having some fun with you tho.

As to the 350 yard drive, I've done it recently. Not bragging as my average drive is nowhere NEAR that, but I flushed a couple weekend-before-last and ended up 50 -60 yards out on a 400 yard par 4. The reason I bring this up is because I hit a 2 iron about 250. 4 iron about 215 or 220ish. I consider myself longish, with friends longer than me, and NONE of us are even close to a 275 yard 4 iron.

To quote the guy in the princess bride-- "Inconceeeeevable!"

bdcrowe, it's OK; like I said before, I didn't yank the club out of his hands to check.

But I did see that it was some kind of low loft muscle back iron. He didn't tell me directly it was a 4 iron; he said it to the 2 guys who I thought were probably team coaches, as they were helping him with his alignment and positioning.

Maybe I misunderstood and it wasn't a 4 iron, maybe he was saying his 4 iron sucked almost as bad as that old guy's back there who's eavesdropping but watch me hit the shit out of this bad boy. Don't know for sure.

All I know is that ball took off like a shell fired from a Paladin. Up, and up, and up, and up, and up........

Then why is this guy on tour winning making money? I will tell you why because he ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH his scores tell us that. The reality is he probably can't controll his distances it isn't about distance that's why no one on tour hits a 4 iorn 275 this guy probably hasnt realised this and this is probably the reason why he isn't better.

I need to sort my game out in my head after a bad hole, i tend to have a few bad holes due to me losing my temper after one bad hole, therefore score goes up...up & up, on the plus side short game is coming on real nice, so ive been told, wink wink.
