Forgive me Golfing Gods, for I have hoed

Uhhhh, here I thought I was over all this ho'ing. Then I develop this tendinitis in my elbow and can't play for a while, so what do I do instead? 2 new ho's, one arrived today, the other is on it's way.

Somebody stop me...................

Please, you've got to be kidding me

I found a HiBore 13º 3 wood with a Proto by You 70gm stiff flex. I was crushing my 15º and keeping it in the fairway so I thought I'd try this one for the days the Driver was totally misbehaving. The wife has the camera in her car to get some pictures developed. As soon as I get it back I'll post pictures. By then the other one should arrive, I still can't believe I bought it though, I feel so dirty.

I think that's a waste, MW.

How are you gonna know your driver is misbehaving until you hit it a few times? gonna drop a club to carry the 13?

Anyway- what's the other ho?

Good point SUX, but since when does a ho have to make sense.

The shaft is worth more than I paid for the whole set up.

Actually, there is one course i play that only has 1 hole you can hit a driver safely, for that one I'll carry the 13º and my 16.5º 4 wood. Most other courses I'll use the 15º and my 20º 5 wood. Of course this other ho could throw all my yardage gaps out of whack,

You'll have to wait till it arrives and pictures are taken,

Well I've gotten over my embaressment enough to fess up to my latest ho. The hater of all hybrids bought a Nicklaus Professional Series Claw 18º hybrid. And guess what? I still hate them. I can groove it off the tee, 200-215 straight down the pipe. But off the deck, forget it. I know, hit it like a 5 iron. I address the ball, set up and tell myself this, but apparently when I take my swing something happens? That or my swing just doesn't suit a hybrid, I'm not sure? But I've yet to find one I can hit with even a smidgen of consistancy.

Took me a really long time to love the hybrid but now I do and it lowered my scores. I recently purchased a little tool that I can honestly say is the only thing I have every bought that lowered my score the same day. I bought one of those Bushnell range finders and my approach shots are 100 times better. I work at a golf course and play that same course almost everyday. I thought I knew all the yardages but this thing proved me wrong. I've played one 18 hole round with the range finder, unfortunately it was a charity scramble so my score is not exactly reflective. I played with three 25+ cappers and we shot a +1 72. We used all of my shots except 7. Drives on three holes only because we had to use one drive from everyone else. one putt that a guy hit and drained from 4 feet he was the first to go and two chips that were no closer to the hole than mine they just had uphill putts. I feel pretty confident that I would have shot about a 75 had they not been around. All this on a course I had only played twice and that is much more difficult than what I normally play. Now I played well but that rangefinder is sooooo awesome.

You know, I think they just aren't for some people. I still have one in my bag just because everybody says you should have one, but I don't think it'll be around much longer. I hit my 3i just as consistently as I hit my 9i, but I don't hit my hybrids worth a shit. The whole point of them is to have a club that is easier to hit than a long iron - so why are people that hit long irons well constantly prodded into using them? Hell if I know.

Some of us hit a hybrid as long as a 3-4 iron so its not worth it. And you are right, why would I have tochange something which i not broke yet?

I've decided this is the catergory I fall into. I can hit my 3 & 4 irons pretty good. No, I'm not Tiger with them, but I'll make a good shot 4 out of 5 tries, the hybrids, I can't even count on 1 out of 5 other than off the tee.

So for the time being, no hybrids will reside in my bag.

And I hated my 6i so much I replaced it with a hybrid. If you exclude wedges from the iron category, I have (or better have after Christmas) more hybrids than irons. I hit them better than fairway metals as well.

I have friends that hit the prettiest shots with hybrids. I know it can be done, just not by me. Maybe it's because I learned to play this game back in the days when there was only blade irons and fairway woods to choose from. I played with a old set of Ram blades that had a sweet spot the size of a pin head, and the old persimmon woods. My driver was smaller than my 3 wood is now. Perhaps one day I'll find the magic hybrid that I can hit better than my long irons, but I haven't yet.
