Broke another shaft !!!!

Ok, its time to admit there is something bad wrong with my HiBore 15º 3 wood.

I've been hitting the 2 hybrid off the deck just fine, so I decided to put the 3 wood back in the bag for off the tee on shorter holes. 3rd time I went to hit it today, I put a normal swing on it and the shaft snapped right at the hosel. This is the same head that snapped the Matrix Code 6. Today it snapped a Accra SC75.

I did not hit the ground, or put a Magilla Gorilla swing on it either time. But this is 2nd high dollar shafts this head has eaten.

Are you the one installing it? Maybe you're not doing something right?

Just to ask the obvious I guess... you are shimming those .335 shafts into the .350 Hibore head correctly?

Was the shaft completely seated in the head? Or in 1/2"?

I suspect bad hosel preparation (coning) or possibly a small burr in the hosel mouth area where the shaft exits the hosel.

I used a stupid plastic shim a local club builder sold me.

Was the shaft completely seated in the head? Or in 1/2"?

It was seated all the way down.

maybe, just maybe you're sooooo strong, un-human type strength, that even if you think you're not swinging hard, you actually have a 300 mph swing and the shafts cant take that kinda of speed....

I'll almost garuntee it has to do with the way the shim is setup. I had an Epic that I shimmed into a Superquad and the tip just collapsed and split, head went flying. Maybe Lyle can give you a "how to" and what to use to be certain with the tips. FWIW I also had a plastic adaptor and was recommended to use a brass one the next time. I'll probably be doing another .335 into .350 pretty soon myself.

I figure it was the plastic adapter. That is the main culprit, and the common denominator on both shafts breaking.

FWIW, I always have used brass shims and shafting beads in the epoxy. Never had a .335 shaft problem of any kind in a .350 hosel.
