Quick Input needed

I am a decent ball striker, and I was wondering what your guys take on purchasing a cheap set of used beat up muscle back irons to use for practice on the range to help improve my swing. When i say cheap i do mean cheap, like 35 bucks for the entire set... they are old and beat up but they would be for practicing at the range... any input?

Re: Quick Input needed

If you're just using it for practice, get a good quality demo 6-iron or something on ebay for $20. Like a Mizuno MP-33 or something. No sense in getting a whole set if they're just for practice.

Wont it be wierd using a different set to play with then you use for practice?. Kinda defeats a bit of the purpose of practice IMO. Can't go wrong buying a set for $35 though if you can hit them well.

That was exactly what I was thinking. How would your game be affected if you practice with a different set of clubs than the ones you play regularly

If you hit blades on the driving range, it would give you much more feedback on where the ball is meeting the clubface. then you can take that swing to the course with your game improvement clubs.

Sounds iffy. I think hitting blades on the range when your not quite good enough to play them all the time, will do nothing but hurt your confidence. Everyone is different though, so maybe it will work for you.

Re: Quick Input needed

Well I ended up missing the rest of the auction so i just bought a 4 iron blade. Using a blade gives you feedback and makes you hit the ball correctly, practicing with that then going to CBs would give you better ball striking with a more forgiving iron. I do not have a big problem switching irons around anyway as my irons are not properly fit to me anyway so standard loft and lie is what I am used to hitting
