| the greatest putt ever I took the boys, 18 and 10 to the Bastrop State Park TX golf course while we were camping. The youngest would hit from my shots, or just where ever. It was all in fun. I tried to coach him a little as we went.
On the 9th hole, the youngest had thrown a ball out about 75 yards from the green. He knocked it on the edge of the green just off the fringe. The older son made it on the green, about 10 foot from the pin. I was on about 10 foot away also.
The youngest was a good 20 feet, maybe 25 from the pin. I told him to line up carefully. He looked like a little pro. First he squatted down behind the ball and looked at the line. Then he squatted down on the other side of the hole, then he went back and held his club in his fingers to see the angle of the green.
It was kind of comical, and kind of irritating his taking so long. I mean, he can't hit a 20 foot putt.
Finally, brother said just hit the ball. He got up lined up, and putted. The ball rolled over a swell, broke right, rolled over another swell, broke left, rolled as the green started to slope, curved with the green, and then....sank right in the hole.
We laughed and cheered. I missed my 10 foot put, and brother just picked his up.
Greatest shot of the game. |
