Re: Switching balls during play?

There is nothing in the rules of golf that prevents a golfer from switching to a different brand of golf ball .

Actually, it's pretty smart because the type of ball is more important when hitting into the green than

pounding it off the tee box. But this is illegal for game spirit, However, there is something in the rules of

golf that says a tournament committee can impose such a rule which is called the "one ball rule".All Tour

events are played under the one ball rule and any rules committee may adopt the one ball rule for its competitions.

You may be right, but there is a rule here against spam. Enjoy the bunker!

Re: Switching balls during play?

Just to continue on my original comment, I have no problems playing with my ball switching partner. I know he means no harm by doing it, and I really don't think he does it to give himself an advantage. If he is, he's pulling one over on me that's for sure.

Personally I play with the same ball for multiple rounds at a time, until it gets lost or too beat up to continue. Then I just grab one outta my bag and keep playing. I find all my golf balls, so brand, compression rating, spin, cover types all mean nothing to me

Re: Switching balls during play?

Whoah whoah whoah.

Here's the deal...

Unless otherwise specificied by tournament holders -or whomever within your competitive group you are playing-, one ball is not required by the rules. If nothing is mentioned, the one ball rule is not in effect. Therefore, you can play a ProV1 on the first 12 holes, and finish with a Nike Black on the last 6.

HOWEVER, you cannot switch balls out from tee to green unless your ball has been damaged within the course of play.

How do I know this? Someone tried to make me lose a tournament last year arguing that only one brand of ball can be played. Turns out it is as I wrote above, I knew it then, but this made it painfully clear.

Re: Switching balls during play?

Hi

You can exchange your ball if it is damaged and your playing partner agrees.

Now - why would you want to hit one ball off the tee and another on the fairway - someone tell you the harder ball goes further?

Not worth it in my opinion.

Play the same make of ball - ditch all the different brands - or throw them in the shag bag. It doesn't matter a whole lot what you play with as long as you like it and stick with it. Golf is a game that rewards consistency.

What you lose in distance or gain in soft landing - you'll make up for in consistency.

Re: Switching balls during play?

Ive yet to call this rule, (Except in a PGA Event)drop the fuc**** ball and hit it , This is not the US open.
Speed Golf , either that or were all destined to have 7 hour rounds.
I relize we all want to adhere to the rules, but I should say ive been known to exceed the speed limite from time to time on the roads. (But i didnt mean it)
This game is suppose to be relaxing & Fun , Rules are good within their own boundries, start enjoying the game and quite thinking so much

That would be breaking the rules. A sacred ritual involving adding a specified number to your "normal" personal best score must be performed.

Against the rules. To be strict, you have to play the same ball, brand/model for the round.

Where are the boundaries for the rules? I always find statements like this a bit odd. You think that you can't have fun or play at a reasonable pace if you play by the rules? Bunk!!! The guys I play with play by the rules. ALL of the rules. And we play a typical 18 hole round in 4 hours or less unless we are waiting for players in front of is. And shockingly enough we always have a blast when we play our Wednesday round.

Believe it or not, you can play at a good pace, have fun, and still play by the Rules of Golf. And you will always know how well or poorly you really played because you counted all of the strokes and played by the same set of rules every time.
