Talking Bad drive, still got an eagle

This Saturday I wasn't playing so well, but managed to get an eagle on a 475 yard par 5. The hole wraps around water to the right. It's a links style course so the other side of the water is inbounds. Well I managed to push my drive right and it landed on the other side of the water.

After my drive I was about 225 to the green and had a good look from where I was. I had to clear a tree about 75 yards in front of me which I knew I could do. I also had to get enough club to clear the water. Well I hit my 3 wood, cleared the tree, cleared the water, and landed about 10 feet from the pin. I had an easy slightly uphill put and nailed it dead center.

I've played golf for about 14 years now and that's my 2nd eagle. The first came on a short par 4 on an executive course.

The one shot that keeps you coming back for more pain.

Good job.

Congrats. I haven't even come close. As a matter of fact, I think they should use a different naming system for hackers like me:

Par would become a Fantastic!
Bogey would become a Good Enough
Double bogey would become The Usual
Triple bogey would become Ewtu, pronounced you-two, and meaning even worse than usual

Birdies and eagles have no name yet because they are so rare in my world

Do you know the difference between a BMW and a porcupine? The porcupine has its' pricks on the outside.

A hole-in-one is an eagle, isn't it?

Well, yeah, it's the same, but different.

I think of a H-i-O as different, anyhow. I got a HiO on a pitch and putt a couple of years ago and never thought of it as an eagle. I got my first eagle this year, but it was post-round replaying a hole on the way back to the clubhouse, so I don't think that really counts either.

I know what you mean, I think I would almost gladly trade my 7-iron holed from off the green on a par-5 in for a hole-in-one on a par-3, even though in essence they are much the same. I got 2 under par on that hole, but I can't claim a hole-in-one. Augh!
