Unhappy I had to put the blades in the closet

Yesterday it was 55F and the sun was shining. I was at Forest Hills to hit on the range, but there was no line at the first tee. Why not an impromptu round of golf!

What I had forgotten was that I had taken my Hogan Edge CFTs out of the bag, so that I could practice with the old Apex IIs.

What a disaster! I was topping and fatting those irons everywhere. Then I started mishitting my metalwoods.

I guess I'm just not ready for blades, so when I got home, I switched them out. Maybe next year.

welcome to the cycle i've been going through for the past 2 years.

i really need to get rid of mine for good, they're screwing with my head. so beautiful, yet so harsh. and for some reason i keep convincing myself i'm good enough to play them.

lol, i'm gonna put mine in the closet too. or maybe under my bed. somewhere out of site otherwise i'll be hypnotized by their beauty once more

i really need to get those snake eyes 600c's.... those'll solve my problems.

Maybe we ought to change their name from blades to women

Don't woory, Loop; hope springs eternal, and all that crap. I'm sure that by spring I'll be stupid enough to try them on another round. About Masters time, when the azaleas and dogwoods are in bloom, and a hackers' dreams are of bladeing his way to an 80.

Right on Sib!
BTW, practice some more with your blades. You'll be 20 times more consistent when you'll switch back to those big hammers of yours.

I never thought I would succumb to "Blade Fever", since I have always been pretty honest with myself about my ability (15 handicap - which most say ain't good enough for the bladeys). I hit my friend's old 845s/DG S300 clubs last week, and really loved the feel. So what do I do? I go looking on eBay for a cheap set of old 845s clubs and come across a set of shiny new Tommy Armour 845 Evo V-25's w/DG S300 shafts. They are a "slight" cavity back forged iron. The reviews are very positive.

I only paid $155 for 'em (hope they're real...) so I'm not out too much $$$ if I can't hit 'em. I've been playing with Cleveland TA7 for a few years. Great sticks, but I feel that maybe, just maybe, I'm ready to move up to more responsive clubs. Ones with less forgiveness and more feel. My handicap has always been my short game anyway. I feel like I have a fairly good swing, so hopefully these V-25's will be as good as the reviews I've read (mostly by 0-12 handicappers...DOH!)

I'll keep you posted.

today was actually nice so i went out, there's still massive room for improvement, this is the first time i've been able to try my swing changes, and i certainly did a good job on my overhaul, and i can definitely play blades, even with a non-spectacular ballstriking day like i had i was hitting them very well. most noted was a better approach game, i just wouldn't leave the flags alone. my woods even responded positively. but i was even more surprised my short game was as good as it was, i chipped in once, had one hit the flag and lip out and three others in "gimme" range. putting was way off, but many of the greens were partially frozen anyway so i won't worry about it too much.
blades are here to stay

say that 500 more times and u'll be where i'm at right now... basically, i don't want to have blades if i don't have the game to back them up. but now that i've proven that i do have the game, i have to commit myself to them, now i can settle down and groove everything together. i'm setting myself up for possibly a run at the state championship, i need to be sure i have the right tools to do the job. you can't build a good house with just a hammer and nails, so i'm told at least.

Don't tell that to Macgyver. He doesn't even need the nails.

In my opinion, blades aren't that hard to hit if you are a solid ballstriker and have the confidence. If you are constantly flip flopping and saying things like "my game is not where it needs to be right now to play blades" you are just over analysing and worrying about nothing. Either you can or you can't play them period.

If I were ever to switch to a CB forged iron...not MP-30 pussy irons , but maybe TM 300 or RAC TP or something, it would be because I like the look, not because I fell that my ball striking isn't good enough. Once you get those thoughts in your head, you're screwed.

Again, this is only my opinion
