What are your goals for 2006?

As a hacker, what goals do you have for your game in 2006?

I've got 4 areas I'd like to concentrate on, which I think will get me to my goal. The 4 areas are...

1. Focus on a ritual for the three basic shot types, full swing, short game shots, and putting.
2. Become more familiar with my yardages, as well as repeating those yardages.
3. Short game short game short game improvement.
4. Putting. Have switched to a mallet head putter with a two-ball alignment.

And the big goal is to shoot in the 80's by the end of the summer. I believe it's reachable if I focus on those above areas.

When I returned to golfing last August, I shot 114, a mulligan thrown in the mix. Yesterday in cold wet miserable conditions with little practice due to the December weather here, I shot a 97. I am improving, I just need to be focused on the weaknesses and turning them into strengths.

My goal is to play a round where I never top, shank, pull, or chili-dip a single shot. I don't care if I miss the green with the approach shot or if I 3 putt, but I'm tired of wasting strokes with crap swings.

To play an entire round without thinking about pulling or hooking the ball.

Yeah, that'd be nice. I had a few of those yesterday, a few times from my hands getting cold and having trouble keeping a solid grip on the backswing.

My goals:

Get my handicap to a 2.x(at a 5.3 now)
Shoot under par for 18(i've shot even par and i've gone under for 9)
Win the Club Championship(made it to the semis and lost)
Play #1 spot on golf team(Was #6 last year)

Let's see what happens!

Go away Neal, you're not allowed in here!

Personally, I'd like to drop out of hacker status. This would involve getting down into the 80s consistently, no 100+ rounds, and a few rounds in the 70s.

To do that:

Improve my mental game - maintain focus througout the round and stay relaxed
Work a lot on short game to minimize wasted strokes
Stretch and work out in order to improve my fitness to increase overall consistency in my game
Putt, putt, and putt

I'd highly recommend the stretching. I've finally committed to a program that I've been doing almost daily for the past 4 weeks, and it's helping. It's tough sometimes because the differences day-to-day aren't noticeable, but now, some weeks after, I am finding a difference. It felt like that extra limberness helped yesterday in the rain and cold, I was better able to remain tension-free when swinging.

Now that I've got improvement I can feel, it's getting easier to stick to it every day. The only break I've taken from it was last week when I was knocked down by the flu. Saturday, soon as I was feeling near normal again, I went back to doing the stretches.

It was rather nice yesterday, stepping up to the first tee, and being able to swing fully without feeling like a disc might pop out of my back.

I have high goals for the year

One round under 80, I WILL DO THIS. Mind over matter.
I guess first I have to get more than one par hole in a round. All I have to change about my game is everything.

1. Shot under par more then one time.
2. Get down to or close to scratch ( at 4 now)
3. Hit my driver and 3 wood good in the same damn round.
4. Find a way to get the wife off my back for playing golf.

I am going to banish the blowup hole. No more triples or quads. I would've had an alright round going on Friday except for two sevens and a six on a par 3 .
Not sure how I'm going to do it though. Probably work on my grip. If I can get that consistent, everything will come from there.

Or maybe I'll just buy a new driver, that always works.

My main aim is to turn professional but before then i should probably learn how to hit the ball straight. And possibly shoot a round under 85.
