1st Round of 2006

After shaking off the rust a little I managed a 94. Not bad considering I was playing this course for the 1st time. It had severe elevation changes and a lot of blind tee shots. Also I brought my "new" Titleist 690 MB blades. Very accurate but extremely unforgiving. There is a big difference in yardage too. They are a good club difference, almost 2, compared to my Mizuno cavity backs. The greens were impossible. Hard as asphalt and fast as ice. The only way I could get a ball to stop was to get in range for a flop shot. I actually 4 putted one hole. 1st putt was downhill off the fringe, lipped out and rolled 18 ft off the green. Next putt stops inches from the hole and rolls all the way back down past where it started. One birdie (almost drove the green on a 323yd. par 4, ended up green high 10 yds. left) 4 pars, along with a pair of 7's and the killer, 2 snowmen. I am very excited about hitting 4 perfect draw shots off the tee. I have been working on this shot forever. I can hit fades easily and combined with the ability to draw it... I see 70's somewhere in the near future.

You'll notice the club distance gap decrease as you dial those beauties in. Nice sticks by the way. I saw your thread, I think you'll still be pleased even though they are a little more worn than you'd like.

I'd inquire to Dallas Golf into the possibilty of sending you a box of pro v's or something to make up the condition difference?

I'm going out again today. I'm still a little sore from yesterday but I figure I'll be building the muscle memory. My swing was good yeterday, putting sucked. I'm heading by the post office 1st to pick up my new Scotty Cameron, today I'll be ready. Now I'll have like 29 putts and send half my drives a mile into the woods. I should inquire about something from Dallas Golf. I need some gloves. I'd even like one of those huge bags of tees that will last me 10yrs. Hey, you interested in that Sonartec 3wood? I hit it a few times yesterday. It flys off the tee but alas another club I cannot hit off the fairway.

I have an unbelievable explosion shot out snowbanks. I like to put the ball in the snow and step on it, sand traps are a piece of cake once you can do this. Winter golf has it's up side. A lot of expensive courses have cheap winter rates. The one I played yesterday cost only $20, play all day. I played 25 holes. Regular price, on the weekend, is $60.

Don't forget that is almost impossible to put one in a water hazard when its frozen. Nice bounce out of the hazard as well

Yeah, but if it stays on the ice it's bitch. Chunk it and you'll fall in. I was going to try to skip one off it today but it looked a little thin and all I had was a half dozen Prov1's.

I have managed to get 5 rounds in this year 2 in Orlando, 2 a couple hours south of here, and 1 an hour south of here. 3 of which I never played before, and 2 that I hadn't played in over a year. The course were a little easier than the ones up here, so that may account for part.

So far my scoring is better than all of last year. I had a 5 round span in May of last year where it was about the same, and a 5 round span in September of 2004. Hopefully it is a sign of the year to come. Most of the course up here will open up next month, so we'll see how it goes. This is the first time in 2 years I have gone into a season improving as opposed to declining.
