| Irons mystery Well folks, those steroids must have finally kicked in, because I woke up this morning feeling like a million bucks. Since I have the day off, I made a snap executive decision that after my daughter got on the school bus, I would go hit a couple buckets of balls at that golf dome I checked out on the way home from getting my shots, (2 LARGE buckets for $7 with a Happenings coupon ). I also decided to try out a new way of gripping the club. Rather than just having my hands in line, like gripping a baseball bat, I wrapped the little finger of my right hand around the index finger of my left. Something wierd happened. I started hitting my PW, and practically every shot went right where I aimed. I even dropped one within 2 ft of the flag on the target green, about 50 yds. Next my 8 iron, same thing. All shots straight. Next the 5 iron. Straight shot after straight shot. By now I'm hearing Rod Sterling's voice and music from the Twilight Zone going through my head. 4 iron and I start slicing slightly. 2 iron and the slice is more pronounced. Fairway wood and things are back to normal. Nicklaus 430-S and the ball is taking off better than normal, but still slicing badly.
I start over with the PW and all of a sudden I'm Hitting great again. This goes on through both buckets of balls. The lower the number on the club, and the worse the slice gets.
I think the grip change is giving me better control overall, but why the progressive pattern?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
