Feel better about your game

Here's how my handicap jumped 3 points in one round. Damn I suck.

Haha, too bad.

But I must thank you, I do feel a bit better about my game now (although I have had my fair share of rounds like that too)

The good thing is though that when you play well on your next comp, you will have an extra 3 handicap.

um, why is your stroke avg higer for par 5's than 3's? LOL

I know how ya feel ezra, been terribly inconsistent, and not capatalizing on chances. Today i made a 1-footer for birdie on 1, missed a 15 footer for bird on 2, missed an 8-footer for bird on 3, missed a 6 footer for bird on 4, missed a 10-footer for bogey on 5(after hitting one OB and playing 3 from the tee), missed a 15 footer for bird on 6, made a 4 footer for bird on 7, missed a 15-footer for bird on 8, and made a 3-footer for par on 9. So many missed opportunities, but still ended up as a 36

I know, that's what made me put that up instead of the scorecard lol. There are 3 par3's over 200 from the blues. They are nasty. I hit into 2 traps and sent the last into a stream. I did 7 strokes better today but still crappy. You playing the course where you work? Get that handicap nice and low. Then I'll invite you up for for a match.

VT-i have been playing by myself. Usually do best by myself, as i play extremely quickly and having nobody holding me up usually means a good score. For example, today we closed my home course early because of heavy rain which turned to sleet. Instead of going home, i hit a bucket. Then, already soaked, decided to play 9. Grips soaked, clothes soaked, im numb(its like 30 degrees), and the ball is going nowhere into the sleet/rain on wet ground, and i shot a 34. No mulligans. That ties my best ever, but that one came on a freezing day when nobody was in front of me.

I shoot 34's when I play by myself too... funny how they turn into 39's and 41's when someone else is there LOL.

Ezra... you're shooting in the 90's and playing the 690MB. You are dedicated, that's for sure!

I had my first eagle playing by myself. That sucked, cuz I had no street cred back then.

I've had several since, but my first one isn't recognized by the golfing community....namely my grandfather, which is my benchmark for some reason.

I played with two COMPLETE hacks the day I got my first ace. Then, after that, every teebox they wanted me to get another....even on a 560 yard par 5. Dummies...I shot 69 that day.

I also put a ball in from 225 with a 5 wood for a 3 on a par 4. I don't wanna talk about the first two shots....that day, I was GLAD to be alone...

It's not the irons that are hurting me now. It's a combination of missing fairways (or hitting into the wrong one), missing putts inside 6-8 ft. and finding too many traps. I actually have only had one bad strike in the last 2 rounds with irons. Everything else was just bad aim or bad decision. As I've said before too, the course I play is very hard. I could easily break 90 at an easier course. A 129 slope par 72 with some small, sloping quick greens and bunkers galore is not too easy to shoot in the 80's on. I checked my golfserve member list, there is an average 6-8 stroke jump at this course over others. I noticed one guy was a 9 handicap and shot a 104, that was the last time he posted a score from there.

Ok, got one to make you guys feel good. 1st hole, under renovation, so it's a par 3 instead of a 4, cutting the course par down to 35. About 155 into the wind. Leave it short, chip in for birdie. 2nd hole, miss green and dont get up and down, bogey. 3rd hole-1st drive ob, 2nd in a bunker, chunk out, miss green, put it on, 3 putt for a smooth quadruple bogey. Par the next one, and the one after that(after shanking a ball off a tree onto the green. Birdie 6, drive green on 7 and birdie, drive green on 8 and birdie, then triple the next hole for a smooth 39. Led the 2 main groups of team players not only in birdies, but in bogeys and 'others' as well. 4 birdies is more than i've ever had on 9 holes, and never made 3 consecutive birds in a row. Then wnt back to play skins, went par bogey birdie birdie par par par bogey for 8 holes. I hate golf. Time to take 2 weeks off, then quit

That's some seroius inconsistency lol. Score worked out OK though. My short game has been such crap. I should easily be shooting in the high 80's every time out. I've decided to take a much more agressive approach. When I try to play safe I do worse. I need to just commit to what I think I should do and do it.

ill be going to a par 72 course next monday (Sunday in the Northern Hemisphere)

I will let you know how I go now on a normal course compared to a begginner (short) Course

I will maintain complete focus and make sure my shots go straight (im hoping)

I dont want to hook my iron shots off the tee so I will be taking more concentration and care with teeing off
