Did it again, an 87. I had a 34 on the first 8 and then of course a 7 on the par 5 ninth. I had to add my score, lol, it wasn't that hard to figure out as I had all 4's and 6 on the first par 5. Fell apart a little on the back, 17th I pull my drive, hits a tree and bounces out. Now I have well over 250. I hit a massive drawing 5wood to about 20-25 yds. I almost made the improbable birdie, missing from 20yds. by an inch. I was so loose through the first 8 holes then started tensing up and overdoing it once I had those visions of breaking 80.

Nice ezra. I think we enter a different stage when it is good to start and then the effort is in keeping it together. Tues. shot 39 on the front and like you, the high hopes and ambitious thoughts got in the way of just playing it a shot at a time.

Nicely done, Breaking 80 will come (or at least that what I keep telling myself )

Thanks Doug. I played at my "old home" course which is fairly easy. It felt good as I played so poorly at my "new home" course the other day I stopped keeping score. I have a lot of confidence being able to get the swing back without even going to the range. The game just gets easier and easier when I stay relaxed and loose taking each shot as it comes. I can see breaking 80 at either of the 2 easier courses I play at. One is a 119/70 the other a 118/71. The 129/72 I'll be happy to get under 90 on this year.

Congrats on the milestone!

And you're not squeaking under 90 by draining a long putt or holing a chip. You're comfortably under. You're now officially an 80's golfer. Well done.

Thanks BBD. I feel like I'm getting to the point I may be able to stay under 90 even when my swing is a bit off. It's all about making the right decisions. I could have gone lower than 87 had I not tried to keep hitting my driver on the back. I kept thinking birdies,(didn't make one btw), while on the front all I was thinking is "what is the easiest/best way for me to get on the gir or at least the fringe?" I only hit driver twice on the front.

Ez, I'm a bit behind, but just wanted to say "werd up, yo!"

Y'know, like, werd to my sub-80 homies. Or something.

My only advice is not to take 7 months off or you'll be back over 100

That would be sub-90 homey. The time off is a killer. It has taken me until just this past week to get back to where I was last year. I'm better now though. Last year getting in the 80's twice was more a fluke that came from pounding 280 yd. drives all round. Now I can hit a 23* hybrid and a 7 or 8 iron and have an even better chance. I'll have a video later on. I have a milk crate of old balls I plan to launch into the bay from 150yds. up on a cliff. That should be cool. I think I'm going to try to set it to Metallica "Wherever I may roam".

A Par 4 293 yds long, wish I had holes like that near me. That would be a driver and a Lob wedge for most of the people I play with.

I'm obviously not as accurate as you I could never land the ball short of that green to let it run on

Ok,ok you big driving lunks....It's wide open but not as short as the distance seems. I've driven it twice when the tees are up at the front of the box. (That's with the R7 on the button and a 114 mph swing speed) It's pretty much a gimme par though if you can reach the top of the little hill. I've birdied it many times. Those 2 are pretty much the easiest holes on the course. Once you get around back the fairways get narrow and lots of trees. It is a pretty easy course though. I figured I'd give myself a break from the hard course and get into the 80's a few times.

Yet another 84 again this afternoon. The difference this time is I feel like I played rather bad. I missed a crapload of putts by inches and hit some pretty poor iron shots. Hitting the fairways like crazy though. I missed 3 birdie putts inside of 12ft. Someday I will leave the 118/71 and go back to the 129/72 , right now though I feel right at home.

I like that feeling. When I feel I played bad but still shot a good score this means I know there is room for easy improvement.
